Sadly, movie viewers have a low attention span compared to the past. But thankfully, hundreds of films pack action into their plots for these people. A recent online post shares some great movies that are all action from the get-go.
1. Snatch (2000)

“Any time I see that a film is directed by Guy Ritchie, I check it out no matter what the reviews say,” declares a British movie lover. “I’ve had a good time with pretty much all of them, even when I wasn’t expecting much.” I believe Snatch is Ritchie’s greatest work: a testament to excellent direction, acting, and plot design. The film is a non-stop rollercoaster of gritty London characters and casual, hilarious violence.
2. Back to the Future (1985)

A Gen-Xer recalls his local cinema showing classics during the 2020 pandemic when no new movies were made. “I took my seven-year-old son,” says the father. “It was his first time seeing the movie, and for us to be able to watch it together on the big screen for the first time? I’ll never forget it.” His son must have enjoyed it so much — I cannot think of a more action-packed journey.
3. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1980)

You know you are in for a wild ride when the opening scene gets underway; whether running from a dodgy-looking styrofoam boulder or swimming from dart pipe-wielding natives, Indiana Jones has brought joy to many generations of moviegoers. “Definitely this one; never a dull moment,” adds another fan.
4. Tremors (1990)

I had to double-take when checking the date on Tremors, but this movie is over thirty years old now! “Tremors is fantastic,” remarks a fellow Gen-Xer. “Helped me appreciate good storytelling with few resources.” There is little time for reflection in this early ’90s classic action movie about a small desert town plagued by giant, underground reptiles.
5. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

I saw this in the movie theater when I was 13, which was a remarkable feat, considering it was rated 15 in Britain. However, I don’t think my mouth closed once during James Cameron’s almost Biblical science-fiction sequel. “Top-tier action movie at the least, and very well may be the best ever,” gushes a kindred spirit in the thread. I agree, fellow fan.
6. Speed (1994)

“I don’t think there’s even five minutes of downtime in this movie,” remarks a contributor. “Constant thrill ride.” Sandra Bullock became famous during this high-octane thriller about a public bus that must maintain a 50 mph speed, or it will explode. What makes the film so tense is Dennis Hopper’s almost realistic depiction of a disgruntled former bomb squad officer holding the city to ransom.
7. The Hangover (2009)

“The first Hangover blew me away,” opines the next cinephile. “When it came out, I was younger and into ‘artsy’ films and remember reading Ebert’s review. He basically said it was like the funniest movie he’d seen in a long time.” We all need to watch The Hangover at least once, if anything, for the Mike Tyson scene alone.
8. Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Tom Cruise dons a dystopian combat outfit in this hilariously violent film about a futuristic soldier trying to defeat an alien invasion. “There’s no filler in this movie; everything has a purpose, and they really don’t spend time on things they don’t need,” argues a fan. “It’s to the point and entertaining. Even the end is relatively abrupt but exactly what was needed.”
9. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

“If she floats, she’s made of wood, and if she’s made of wood what does that make her?” asks a commenter, quoting the riotously anarchic Monty Python treat. “A witch!!!” I cannot overstate how much I love this film, and from the first moment until the final ridiculous scene, it is like a giant, non-stop Monty Python sketch.
10. Borat (2006)

Sasha Baron Cohen is an Israeli Jew, a group renowned for their defiant fearlessness. This lack of doubt is crucial to the blend of irreverent comedy Cohen produces — and with admirable deadpan. How Cohen kept a straight face filming this movie is beyond me, but one thing is guaranteed — viewers will find it impossible through the entire duration.
