Celebrities have an advantage when it comes to doing good in the world. Their status can bring attention to many worthy causes. While some stars can appear insincere, others are definitely worthy of praise. You often see Keanu Reeves, for example, as one of the most highly praised celebrities doing good in the world, but what about some others? Here are 12 others that the internet believes are utterly genuine.

 The English rock star is known worldwide for his bling and music, but he’s also shown he genuinely cares. According to one person, “He has raised millions over the years” for HIV and AIDS charities. “Don’t forget drug addiction,” added another, referring to his personal support of other stars battling their own war on drugs.

 2 – Dolly Parton

The 77-year-old is best known as the Queen of Country Music, but her philanthropic side is also a big part of her life. Amongst other charities, “Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Program has distributed over 100 million books total to around 850,000 children,” said one fan. 

3 – Jane Fonda

The Academy Award-winning actress is probably also remembered for bringing aerobics into homes via video in the 80s. Besides this, she’s a well-known activist and supports several causes. One person commented, “Iconic anti-war activist Jane Fonda was recently arrested again for continuing to protest climate change at age 81.”

The Divergent series star has wowed several fans with her stance on native causes. “I know she’s been arrested several times while protesting the misuse of native lands,” said one person. “I met her at Standing Rock,” said another, “She sat and talked with my auntie for over an hour after my auntie and her horse were hit with rubber bullets.”

One person pointed out that the Irish folk and blues singer’s lyrics “call out political, environmental, and religious nonsense. He is also a powerful LGBTQ ally. He also donates earnings from some of his songs to really good causes. Cherry Wine and Jack Boot Jump are two I know of.”
