Sony acted quickly after a Senior Vice President for the company who worked on the Playstation side allegedly appeared in a pedophile sting video. The video, which purports to feature George Cacioppo, first appeared on the internet on December 3rd.

The video was posted by the group People v. Preds to their YouTube channel. The group engages in sting operations which help to uncover sexual predators.

In the video, a cameraman appears at the alleged predator’s house and rings his doorbell. The man who answers the door is sporting a Playstation 5 shirt and is asked a series of questions. He then closes his door while refusing to answer the cameraman’s questions. The videographer then tells the alleged suspect that he will be calling the police.

According to CNET:

“Cacioppo allegedly spoke with a person who said he was 15 years old on Grindr, the social networking app for gay, bi, trans and queer people. The two exchanged pictures and discussed sex acts, according to screenshots of the conversation. Cacioppo allegedly told the decoy that his name was ‘Jeff’ and provided his address. The decoy said he would take an Uber to his location, and Cacioppo was allegedly waiting outside.”

When reached for comment, Sony said in a statement, “We are aware of the situation and the employee in question has been terminated from employment.”

People v. Preds note that they have sent the video and backing evidence to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.
