If you’re looking to play Hearthstone but aren’t sure what Hearthstone class comes out on top, we will tell you everything you need to know so that you can start learning the best classes and what decks work the best for them. Of course, the meta is constantly changing, so keep that in mind! We will update our Hearthstone classes list if there are any changes where the classes go up or down in the rankings.
Here are all of the Hearthstone classes ranked.
S Tier – Warlock
Warlock has a lot of versatility in Hearthstone and allows for some very high-damage builds. If you are new to the game or lack experience, the Warlock can be very difficult to play.
One of the best decks you can use for the Warlock is the “Mining Warlock” build, which revolves around excavating treasures to succeed.
The Warlock can be hard to play, based on their class power alone, which allows you to draw a card in turn for two health. That said, when you get lucky with good cards and have a solid deck built, they can easily crush their opponents.
S Tier – Paladin
Paladin is a very versatile class, and it allows you to play defensively or as offensively as you like, whether using strong minions or buffing your minions until they are ridiculously overpowered.
Playing aggressively works very well with the Paladin, as they can drop minions that have Divine Shield and Taunt and get in the way of all of their opponent’s minions so that they can start buffing the minions that matter and deal damage to the opponent.
S Tier – Hunter
The Hunter class in Hearthstone has a lot of potential, whether Quest Hunter or Secret Hunter, should you be playing in Wild. However, if you’re looking for the current meta, Hound Hunter or Arcane Hunter are your best bets. Hound Hunter allows you plenty of minions on the go while buffing them each time you play a new card, such as Bunch of Bananas or Thornmantle Musician.
The class power can also be incredibly strong, as it can finish off the minions on the board that only have 2 HP left, or you can even hit your opponent should you choose to.
The Hunter is one of the more accessible classes to play in Hearthstone and is excellent for novices and advanced players across the board.
S Tier – Druid
Druids are versatile but unpredictable, making them very hard to play against and a pretty hard class to learn if you’re starting to learn how to play the game.
There are many different decks that you can play as a Druid, but some of the most potent decks revolve around Treants or Dragons. By summoning a tonne of Treants and then using Mark of the Wild to buff them, they can do some massive damage to the enemy.
Dragons are also very powerful and can start as tiny Whelplings on the board that then get buffed until they are beasts that can wipe out the opponent in a flash.
A Tier – Death Knight
Death Knight is the latest class added to Hearthstone, and they are already quite the powerhouse. While they aren’t as strong as some of the other classes listed, they can still easily win many matches.
Using a multitude of cards that have Plague on them can be a great way to win against your opponent, as they will eventually draw the cards and take damage. Doing this alongside Excavate cards can create some very powerful results.
A Tier – Demon Hunter
Demon Hunter is a great class to play, but it can be pretty difficult to get right if you’re starting out playing the DH. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can go in aggressively and pummel your opponent. By giving themselves a mountain of attack buffs, their weapons can wreak havoc on the enemy and take them down in a fell swoop.
A Tier – Mage
Mages are versatile, fun, and one of the easiest classes to learn to play alongside Hunter. There are a multitude of ways that you can play a Mage, depending on your playstyle, whether using a bunch of spells and secrets or minions to get your victory.
One of the best decks you can play with a Mage is the Secret Mage, which revolves around minions casting Secrets as either a Battlecry or Deathrattle and using some spells to secure the victory.
A Tier – Shaman
Shaman is a very tricky class to play and is best suited to those who already have some knowledge of how Hearthstone works. If played correctly, they can be very broken and have some great damage. If misplayed, they can be completely redundant.
One of the most robust and reliable decks you can build with a Shaman revolves around Totems. This has been in the meta for many expansions, with some cards changing over time. It allows you to summon some casual minions onto the board and ones that transform your totems or give them defensive and offensive buffs to secure the win.
B Tier – Rogue
Rogues have a lot of potential, but if played incorrectly, they don’t perform as well as some other classes. They can also be pretty predictable, as they can return cards to their deck frequently to replay them over and over again.
Despite that, the Ogre Rogue is one of the best decks to play as a Rogue. This deck revolves around putting cards back into your deck for a lower cost and playing a lot of Ogre cards. Ogres are generally quite bulky high-cost cards, and using cards like Shadowstep makes them much easier to play repeatedly.
B Tier – Warrior
Warriors are predictable and often hide behind layers of armor to succeed. Playing against them involves playing the long game or having cards that deal massive damage per hit. Because of that, the Warrior falls pretty low on the tier list.
The best deck for Warrior named the Enrage Warrior, revolves around summoning low-cost minions that have Rush, Battlecries, or Deathrattles to give them that extra boost, as well as minions that gain more attack and health depending on how many injured minions are on the board.
B Tier – Priest
Priests are challenging to play, and sometimes their damage just doesn’t come out on top. While they can heal each turn as an advantage, sometimes it just isn’t enough. One of the best decks you can play as a Priest is Undead Priest. This revolves around your minions having Reborn as their keyword, allowing them to revive once they’ve died. Using that with cards that buff Reborn minions gives your Priest a perfect synergy.
That’s our tier list for every Hearthstone class and where they come on the list. As cards are tweaked, this list may change, and some classes may rise to the top, whereas others will fall to their demise. If that is the case, we will update the tier list accordingly!
