The most recent update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons was filled with far more than DLC! After you finish your group stretches, you might want to visit the town hall. For a price, you can put the whole town under one of four Ordinances, and boy do they do plenty! However, you’re paying a pretty penny for them. It’s a good idea to know what Ordinances do for your town, and if it’s worth the money.
All Ordinances in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
There are four Ordinances that came out with Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0. The Ordinances include the Beautiful Island Ordinance, Early Bird Ordinance, Night Owl Ordinance, and Bell Boom Ordinance. Each of these will influence the schedules and profits of your shops and island in general. And no matter which one you choose, you will be paying 20,000 Bells to get them.
Before you can start with Ordinances, you’ll need to unlock them. Upgrade your island until you unlock Residential Services. Once Isabelle arrives on your island, you’ll find this new feature in the “Review island features” option.
Each Ordinance has the following effects:
- Beautiful Island Ordinance
- Villagers water more
- Time traveling does not affect the town’s environment.
- No cockroaches, lower weed spawn rate.
- Hybrids are more likely to spawn
- No trash during fishing
- Flowers no longer die.
- Early Bird Ordinance
- The islanders’ sleep schedules are shifted to be one to two hours earlier.
- The Nook’s Cranny and Able Sisters open one hour earlier.
- Night Owl Ordinance
- The islanders’ personal schedules and shop schedules change to be somewhat later (by about one or two hours).
- The Nook’s Cranny and Able Sisters open one hour later.
- Bell Boom Ordinance
- Shops sell and buy for 20% more.
- Premium items remain unaffected.
While the Early Bird and Night Owl Ordinance sounds good for players who want to match their own sleep schedule, it just isn’t a significant push. Since you can only have one Ordinance at a time, we recommend sticking with Beautiful Island and swapping to Bell Boom if you can make a profit off of your sold items with the 20% bonus.
