If you were a big fan of Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom, you’re probably aware that it didn’t feature a co-op mode. The original Battle for Bikini Bottom was a single-player only game, but the developers at THQ Nordic decided it was time to add in some multiplayer action. Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated has a brand new co-op mode that allows you to play with your friends as much as you like. In this guide we’ll tell you how to get co-op mode set up and what you can look forward to while playing.

How to play Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated co-op mode

Cross platform

Multiplayer is not available for the main story mode of Bikini Bottom Rehydrated — that part of the game remains single player. However, you can play through the co-op Horde Mode with a friend. You can find the option to enter co-op mode on the main menu by selecting Horde Mode. After that you’ll be able to choose from one of seven different characters and visit a series of islands and battle evil robots.

Once you’ve found the option to start multiplayer, you can pick your character from either Spongebob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Plankton, or Gary the pet snail. You have an option of up to 26 different islands to choose from, and after you start, you’ll eventually find a giant robot Squidward who will throw waves of robots at you.

How Long to Beat Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated

You can play co-op either locally with a second controller or online. The developers have included the Play Together feature as well, so you don’t need two copies of the game in order to get your friends involved. You just need to be friends with someone who has the game and have them invite you to their session.

Co-op mode is a brand new feature for the Rehydrated version of the Battle for Bikini Bottom, which also comes with a selection of previously cut content. If you’re a fan of the yellow sponge and his underwater antics, it’s worth taking a look and grabbing some friends for the ride. The co-op Horde mode has plenty of replayability and should be a good place to waste a few hours.
