Battlefield 2042 | What Is Battlefield Portal?

Battlefield 2042 Battlefield Portal

Battlefield 2042 has gotten some eyes on it recently due to the announcement of a new package. Battlefield Portal, as the service is called, might seem like a content pack on the face of it. However, what EA has in store for players is more than meets the eye! If you’re confused as to what the Battlefield Portal is, we can help clear the water.

What is the Battlefield Portal?

What is the Battlefield Portal?

Battlefield Portal is a custom game mode in Battlefield 2042 which allows players to create unique events with custom rulesets. Portal can do things like turn off ADS or crawling, disable HUDs and minimaps, or restrict specific weapons. While it is impossible to create full rulesets like Battle Royales, it will be possible to do fun events like Sniper Only duels, hide-and-seek, and so much more.

Another mechanic of Battlefield Portal is called Experiences, which is basically a player’s server list. These servers do not need the host in them to keep running; they’ll go until all players have left, and can backfill with AI in the worst case scenario. There’s even a Logic Editor, which can allow you to play around with how the game functions with victory conditions, scale, and building destruction potential.

In addition to the mechanics, Portal is adding 6 maps from previous Battlefield titles. These maps include:

  • Battle Of The Bulge (Battlefield 1942)
  • El Alamein (Battlefield 1942)
  • Arica Harbor (Battlefield: Bad Company 2)
  • Valparaiso (Battlefield: Bad Company 2)
  • Caspian Border (Battlefield 3)
  • Noshahr Canals (Battlefield 3)

These maps will return with their weapons, such as the M1 Garand or M416. These weapons can be customized in case players want an old-school Battlefield experience while they play 2042.

Finally, Portal promises to be a live service. The developers say that they are willing to add additional features as required, based on community outcry.  So, it seems that this service is designed to make fans as happy as can be by letting them relive whatever events that they can imagine.
