If you’re reading this, chances are you probably already beat Elden Ring at least once. If that’s the case, congratulations! Beating soulslike games is always a nice achievement that comes with well-earned bragging rights. But, just like any other game, Elden Ring becomes increasingly less exciting with every subsequent playthrough. At least for most people. If you’re among them, don’t worry because you can make the game feel new and exciting again by grabbing some of the Elden Ring mods on this list.
Most of the mods currently available are pretty tame compared to those made for games like Skyrim, for example. But there are a few crazy ones out there as well. We tried to add a good mix of mods of all shapes and sizes to this list to ensure that there’s a little something for everybody. That said, the game is still relatively new as of this writing so expect our Elden Ring mods list to expand over time.
With that out of the way, let’s jump straight into it.
Anti-cheat Toggler and Offline Launcher
Pretty much what it says on the tin. This mod provides you with an easy way to disable the Easy AntiCheat software in Elden Ring. The software is known to sometimes impact performance so disabling it might help the game run smoother. Keep in mind, though, that this doesn’t work for everybody. You’ll have to test it out for yourself to see if it can do anything for you.
It’s important to note that you won’t be able to play online while using this mod. This also applies to most other Elden Ring mods by the way. The Anti-Cheat Toggler is meant to be used exclusively offline and can be turned on or off with a simple console command.
Enabling the Anti-Cheat Toggler also enables any other mods you have installed. Meanwhile, disabling it turns off all mods and allows you to play online once again. We recommend installing this mod before downloading any of the other ones on this list. It will make switching between online and offline modes so much easier.
Grand Merchant
This is more of a cheat than anything else but we wanted to mention it anyway because it’s a great tool for experimentation. Grand Merchant adds all items (besides spells) to the crafting menu and allows you to craft them for free. Needless to say, using this mod can make you very overpowered even at lower levels. This is one of only a few Elden Ring mods that could be used in online mode, but we strongly advise against trying it there because it will almost certainly get you banned.
Easy Mode for Elden Ring
There have been tons of debates over the years on whether soulslike games should have an easy mode. These debates have, of course, only intensified with the release of Elden Ring. But if you’re playing the game with mods there’s no need to have a debate because you can add an easy more yourself if you want to. That’s right, there is such a thing as an easy mode for Elden Ring and the mod works exactly how you would expect it to.
The Easy Mode for Elden Ring mod comes in three variants – Damage Edit Only, Damage Tweak + 10x Rune, and Personal Edit. Each version makes things progressively easier so make sure to check the description of each one on the mod page before you download.
We recommend going with the Damage Edit Only version if you want the game to still be somewhat challenging. This version is enough to make even hard bosses like General Radahn a lot more manageable. Anything more than that is a bit of an overkill in our opinion.
Fix the Camera
Fix the Camera is one of several Elden Ring mods designed by NexusMods user TechieW to make the game a bit better from a technical standpoint. This particular mod removes the automatic camera recentering and disables the camera reset when trying to lock-on with no targets in range. The mod seems to work better when playing Elden Ring with keyboard and mouse. But improvements for controller play are said to be coming in the near future as well.
In the interest of speeding things up, we’re going to briefly enumerate a few other mods made by the user instead of covering them individually because they’re pretty self-explanatory. Other TechieW mods you may want to check out include Unlock the Framerate, Remove Black Bars, Adjust the FoV, and Remove Vignette.
In order to install any of the aforementioned mods, including Fix the Camera, you’ll first need to grab the Elden Mod Loader, which was made by the same user.
Pause the Game
Pause the Game is another TechnieW mod but we wanted to talk about this one separately because it’s pretty important. As I’m sure you already know, Elden Ring doesn’t have a pause button, a design choice that was very much intentional.
There is a little pause trick you can use without having to scour the internet for Elden Ring mods but it requires you to open a bunch of menus in quick succession. While helpful in some situations, it’s less than ideal when you want to pause in the middle of a boss fight.
By comparison, the Pause the Game mod requires you to press a single button and the feature can be used anytime you want. Including during combat. The pause button is customizable and you don’t need to run any external applications or replace any files to get it to work. However, you will need to install the Elden Mod Loader mentioned earlier. A small price to pay for enabling an extremely useful feature.
Eldenreshade – Hdr FX
Graphical Elden Ring mods aren’t all that numerous just yet, but you can already find a couple of pretty good ones. One of the most popular ones at the moment goes by the name of EldenReshade and adds some neat HDR lighting effects to the game. The mod makes everything look a bit brighter and more vibrant while also improving the overall visual fidelity.
Now, Elden Ring is obviously meant to look somewhat drab and depressing, but having colors that pop up a bit more isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If you want the game to look more colorful you can also check out another mod called Simple Vibrant ReShade for Elden Ring. If you want things to look even darker than usual, on the other hand, we recommend Revenant ReShade.
There are a few other good reshading mods on the Nexus so browse around and pick the one you like best. These types of mods generally don’t play well with each other, so make sure to limit yourself to just one of them at a time.
Elden Lit – Graphics Overhaul
If a simple reshade won’t cut it for you, you may want to consider going all out and grabbing Elden Lit. This graphical mod is a bit more complex than the ones mentioned previously since it touches upon a number of things, such as color saturation, lighting, post-processing, ray-tracing, shadows, texture quality, and more. The end result is a much crisper-looking Elden Ring.
This is one of the most resource-intensive Elden Ring mods on this list and we wouldn’t recommend installing it unless you’re running the game on a beefy rig. If you think your PC can handle it, make sure to read the installation instructions carefully on the mod page because the process is a bit more complicated here. Among other things, it involves downloading the ReShade 5.0.2 software and checking to see if you have the latest version of .NET Framework.
There’s a video tutorial on the mod page. Make sure to watch that if you’re having trouble following the written instruction for one reason or another.
Skip the Intro Logos
Pretty much every game that supports modding has one of these, so of course there’s one for Elden Ring as well. The mod simply skips the into logos and lets you jump straight to the menu. That’s all there is to it. Let’s move on to the next one.
Recover Runes Immediately
Having to run back to the last place you died to recover your runes is an integral part of the Elden Ring experience and not something you would normally want to get rid of. But… if you do find this aspect of the game particularly frustrating, you can circumvent it using the Recover Runes Immediately mod.
The mod gives you the option to recover all your runes as soon as you respawn, essentially eliminating death penalties. Recover Runes Immediately basically acts like a Sacrificial Twig that doesn’t disappear upon dying.
Magic Overhaul – Sorceries
Next up we have one of our personal favorite Elden Ring mods. Magic Overhaul – Sorceries expands the game’s magic system by adding new sorceries. There are over a dozen of them to choose from and while they are technically modified versions of existing sorceries, the new spells do feel fresh and exciting to use. Entirely new custom sorceries are likely also coming at some point but there’s no timeline for those just yet.
Yorha No.2 Type B (2B) ER Version
The name of this mod is a bit of a mouthful but you can probably guess what it does regardless. The mod brings 2B from Nier Automata to Elden Ring by replacing the Astrologer set + Knight Helm with everybody’s favorite android. You’ll need to wear both the set and the helm to get the correct look, otherwise the model will look a bit off.
In addition to the standard version, the mod also has a no-skirt version. The alternative version is just what it sounds like and was made to allow the 2B model to work with other clothes and armors. Needless to say, 2B won’t have the same animations she has in Nier Automata regardless of which mod version you use. But simply having her in Elden Ring is pretty cool by itself.
Ostrava From Demon’s Souls
Ever wanted to wear iconic armors and weapons from previous FromSoftware games in Elden Ring? If the answer is yes, this is a good place to start. This mod ports the equipment of Ostrava of Boletria, a well-known Demon’s Souls NPC, and allows the player to wear it in Elden Ring.
The creator of the mod has been working on porting a bunch of other models from Soulsborne games into Elden Ring, many of which are already available on their Patreon page. You can check the description of this mod for the link to that. Some additional models may end up making their way to the Nexus sooner or later so check back often.
Npcs and Bosses Spirit Summons
This is easily one of the craziest Elden Ring mods available at the moment. If the name didn’t already give it away, the mod allows you to use a number of NPCs and bosses as Spirit Summons. These include Malenia, Sellen, Ranni, Radagon, the Crucible Knight, and a few others. All of them work as regular Spirit Summons but they have been made weaker than their normal counterparts for the sake of balance.
According to the mod creator, the idea behind NPCs and Bosses Spirit Summons was to give you the same feeling you get while travelling around Skyrim with your companions. Inspired by certain Skyrim companion mods, the creator decided to allow for the summoning of multiple Spirits at once. The mod creator also took the liberty of making certain adjustments to the weapons and spells used by these summons.
Ranni Skin for Tarnished
Speaking of Elden Ring cosplay, this next mod gives you the opportunity to dress up like Ranni. Once you install the mod, you’ll need to equip the Astrologer Robe, Astrologer Gloves and Astrologer Trousers along with the Marionette Soldier Birdhelm to take on the appearance of the NPC. This mod currently has a number of problems so if you run into any bugs make sure to check the comments section for possible solutions.
Torrent to Kaiden – Horse Replacement
Torrent is a pretty cool-looking steed but using the same mount all the time can get a bit boring after a while. Fear not, though, because thanks to this mod you can replace Torrent with one of the horses used by Kaiden warriors. The horse has been rescaled and tweaked to be closer in proportions to Torrent but is still slightly larger than the regular mount. But don’t worry because that won’t have any negative impact on your gameplay.
Final Thoughts
All the Elden Ring mods covered in this article are only available on PC and can be found on NexusMods along with many others. If you’re new to modding, you may run into certain issues because some of the mods require knowledge of third-party software. But you should be fine if you take the time to carefully read the description of each mod and browse its comments section.
