Blade and Sorcery is a staple in the VR world thanks to its realistic physics and hardcore action. It allows players to live out their warrior dreams as they wield a variety of weapons and magic against waves of enemies. The medieval fantasy game initially provides players with basic weapons and gear. But what if you’re ready for an upgrade, for something more modern, or maybe more futuristic? With the help of mods that you can install, Blade and Sorcery offers some special touch-ups for both PC and Quest 2 users.
How to Download and Install Mods for Blade and Sorcery
Blade and Sorcery is available for both PC and Quest 2 VR players, and the approach to installing mods works nearly the same for both. We’ll first go over the PC route before moving on to the Quest 2 version, which is titled Blade and Sorcery: Nomad.
Let’s kick things off with the mod manager for Blade and Sorcery, Nexus Mods. It’s widely used by many fans of the game, with content constantly being uploaded. Go to Nexus Mods where you’ll see all available games for modding. Make an account so that you have permission to download any content from the site. Once you do that, select the Blade and Sorcery thumbnail from the main page, where you’ll find yourself bombarded with new and popular mods.
Make your selection for the first mod by clicking on Manual for download. Next, select the Slow Download option for the free route. Your download will automatically begin after a 5-second timer. Wait for the file to finish downloading before navigating through the files. If you’re using the Oculus app, the folder should look something like this: “C:\Program Files\Oculus\Software\Software\warpfrog-blade-sorcery\BladeAndSorcery_Data\StreamingAssets\Mods”
Oculus and Steam Mods
To see where your folder is exactly, open your Oculus app, go to your Library, click on the three dots under Blade and Sorcery, then select Details. A side panel will pop up to provide you with the game’s language, playtime, achievements, location, and current version. Clicking on Location will copy the address for you to paste onto the search results for your PC through its File Explorer.
If you’re using Steam, find Blade and Sorcery in the Installed Games Panel. Access the Properties by right-clicking Installed Games Panel, selecting Local Files, then clicking on Browse. Proceed to the “BladeAndSorcery_Data ->StreamingAssets ->Mods” folder where you can finally place your new mods.
Once you’ve located the folder on your respective platform, extract the mod, copy it, then paste it into the Mods folder for Blade and Sorcery. You now have access to your newly acquired mods, which will be added to the game upon booting it up.
Quest 2 Mods
For Quest 2 users, your mods will be on a different page from Nexus Mods. It’s still Blade and Sorcery, but now it’s with the Nomad subtitle. Keep in mind that PC mods won’t work for Quest 2; you’ll have to download them separately. It’s the same process with manual downloads as mentioned previously for the PC version. However, since Quest 2 doesn’t support the traditional way of modding, you’ll have to install the VR Mobile Station. It’s in the App Lab section of the Quest 2 store. This allows you to explore experimental apps with your VR headset.
Next, open your Quest Browser for Nexus Mods on Blade and Sorcery: Nomad. Make you’re signed in for this wireless method. Now, search through the catalog and download your preferred add-ons. Wait for the download to complete then return to the VR Mobile Station app. Under Available Content, select Local Files to find your installed mods. Toggle the View/Edit option to check off the mods, where you can then copy the files.
Go to the Local Files folder to locate All Folders. Access the Android folder and then Data to finally locate “.com.Warpfrog.BladeAndSorcery”. From here, go to Files then go into the Mods folder to paste the creative content. Toggle View/Edit then select the Paste (Move) option. Your mods will start to show up on the list. Toggle View/Edit once again so that you can extract the files. Selecting the zip files will transfer you to the next screen, with a button prompt for extraction. Extract them, click OK, and you’ll get to see your officially installed mods. Finally, exit the VR Mobile Station app then boot up Blade and Sorcery: Nomad. You now have unlocked some awesome potential!
Blade and Sorcery is currently on its way to U12 for its Early Access run, and it’s set to feature immersive swimming, new breakable objects, original music, unique outposts, and even an in-game mod manager.
