The upcoming Call of Duty game, called Vanguard, looks set for an announcement imminently. That’s thanks to a leak on the PlayStation store, which posted the game’s logo earlier today. Since then, publishers Activision have confirmed the game’s existence. A full reveal will take place in Warzone on August 19.
Leaks suggesting the existence of Call of Duty: Vanguard have been swirling around for months, but today’s news is the first time an official outlet has confirmed the game is real. Earlier this month, popular Call of Duty creators like MrDalekJD were sent ominous clips, teasing battle on the WWII Western Front. Following today’s leak, Activision released an official trailer, all but confirming the setting.
It will be the first time the Call of Duty franchise returns to World War II since 2017’s fittingly named WWII. Since then, it’s gone to the future with Black Ops 4, the present with Modern Warfare, and the past with Black Ops: Cold War.
Official details are currently slim on Vanguard, but the PlayStation leak does reveal some tidbits. We know for certain that the worldwide reveal will take place in Warzone on August 19, as confirmed by the posting. This is the second time the battle royale sensation has been used to reveal the new CoD, as the same happened last year. However, it’s not yet clear what form this will take. It’ll likely involve in-game events, followed by the premiere of a reveal trailer.
So What’s the Call of Duty: Vanguard Release Date?
We don’t currently have a release date for Call of Duty: Vanguard, but we’ll learn more about the game in the reveal event taking place later this week. Given the franchise’s usual release schedule, we can assume Vanguard will be out at some point in November. Leaks also make it seem like the game will release on both previous- and new-gen consoles, with cross-platform bundles too.
