Despite reports earlier this year that CD Projekt could look for a buyout target, the Polish developer is reiterating its desire to remain independent.
CEO and president Adam Kiciński spoke with the Polish paper Rzeczpospolita in an interview and the topic came up.
Q: CD Projekt is also indicated as a potential acquisition target. Is the announcement of strategic options and finding an investor or the sale of some shares by existing shareholders not being considered?
Source: Rzeczpospolita
A: We have been repeating for years that we plan to remain independent and do not plan to become part of a larger entity. We are also not looking for a strategic investor.
Kiciński followed up by stating that there were hurdles in place to prevent any hostile takeovers.
The sourced paper is a financial one, so most of the questions deal with the company’s fiscal presence and future.
One tidbit regarding development that was released is the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 will see no further updates released this year. Given the fact that 2021 is almost other, that isn’t too much of a surprise.
Regarding the game’s future, they expect good things in the future, believing that it will be seen favorably as time goes on.
