While the Shadowlands expansion has gotten some flack, the cross-faction gameplay is a very welcome addition to the game.

There are some exceptions with cross-faction gameplay. The following dungeons will not be available due to various circumstances:

  • Trial of the Champion
  • Trial of the Crusader
  • Vault of Archavon
  • Icecrown Citadel
  • Baradin Hold
  • Siege of Boralus
  • Battle of Dazar’alor
  • Darkmaul Citadel (Exile’s Reach dungeon)

Guilds are also not cross-faction for the time being, but Blizzard has indicated they would like to address this in the future.

A news post from the World of Warcraft site details how to set up cross-faction parties:

To invite members of the opposite faction to a party, players must have a BattleTag or Real ID friendship or be members of a cross-faction WoW Community.

Players will have the ability to find Premade Groups in the Group Finder for dungeons (Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic+), raids, rated arena/RBGs, and also Torghast. However, the group leader may restrict the listing to same-faction applicants if they choose.

Once in a party, members of the opposite faction will remain unfriendly while outside of instances, though they will be able to communicate through party and raid chat, as well as use /say and /yell within proximity of one another.

Cross-faction gameplay is one of many features of World of Warcraft Patch 9.2.5. Class balancing, an all-new raid season, and Torghast tweaks highlight the patch changes. For the full list of patch notes, check out Blizzard’s website.

Be sure to group up with your friends as you attempt to acquire some of the rarest WoW mounts the game offers. Now you can do this with the opposing faction!
