How To Transfer Your Save File (Xbox Game Pass & Steam) – Deep Rock Galactic
Before you start transferring the save file, it is very important to back up your save files in case you lose them forever.
First of all, you have to locate your Xbox Game Pass save file, and to do that there are a few steps to follow:
- Open the Search Bar and type “Run” on windows. Click on it to open.

- In the “Run” search bar type “%appdata%”, and press ok.

- Once you are in your AppData folder, open the folder named “Local”, and then go to “Packages”.

- In the Packages folder you need to find the “CoffeeStainStudios.DeepRockGalactic” folder. Click to open it.

- Open “SystemAppData”, and then open “wgs” folder.

If you have created a save state there, then there you should find a folder composed of a long string of numbers and characters.
Then inside that folder, you have to find another folder that is also a string of numbers and characters, and finally, there you will find your save file.

Once you have arrived in the packages folder, you have to find the save file folder for the Steam version of Deep Rock Galactic.
First, you need to run Deep Rock Galactic after installing it on Steam because it should generate all the folders of the save file, and then you can access them and input the save file from Windows.
All you need to do is go to Steam folder, and then open “steamapps”.

Then you have to open common > Deep Rock Galactic > FSD > Saved > SaveGames
This is where you should be able to find your save file on Steam.

To transfer the save file from one platform to the other, just take the one that you want to transfer and drag it to the folder of Steam or Xbox Game Pass Windows and rename it exactly how it was called in the exact folder.
Make sure to copy the entire name with the extension included, and if Windows prompts you that you are changing the file type, you need to press “Yes”.
Once this is done, make sure that the file has cleanly replaced one another without making a duplicate.
