If you’ve done your fair share of cooking and crafting in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ve probably run into the problem of finding rare resources for the recipes or items you want to make. It can pose a challenge, but no other trade in the game can be more daunting and rewarding than mining. The payoff can be massive, but also just as tedious, especially if you’re mining for emeralds. If you’ve been out of luck, this guide we’ll show you just how to get your hands on some.
How to Get Emeralds in Disney Dreamlight Valley
You can only get emeralds in Disney Dreamlight Valley when mining in the Forest of Valor and the Glade of Trust. While you can mine for gems in every region of the game, these two are the only ones where you’ll be able to find and mine for emeralds. To find them, you’ll need to look along the rocks that border both regions, and if you see a black shadow on the rock with glowing green specs, you know you’ve found yourself some emeralds.
When mining for emeralds, it’s good to know there are two types, regular and shiny. You can find both in the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust, and the one you want depends on why you’re in need of them. For example, for most in-game quests and crafting you’ll just need regular emeralds. The shiny variant, on the other hand, is less resourceful, but can be sold for 1,300 Star Coins, so you don’t want to miss out.
To boost your chances of finding emeralds, you’ll want to hang out with characters who specialize in the mining skill. You can do that by checking the assigned role of every character in the collection tab when pausing the game. To “hang out” with a character, you simply need to talk to them and select the option when it appears. They’ll now follow you around and bring you some much-needed luck by occasionally increasing the number of emeralds and gems you can get when you mine.
