Disney has created some of the most magical worlds in media, and now you’ll have the chance to be a part of them. Although there is no shortage of officially-licensed games based on Disney titles, there’s never been an in-depth life sim. This changes with the announcement of Disney Dreamlight Valley, an upcoming PlayStation game in the sprawling universe. The goal is to let players explore worlds and interact with various characters created by Disney and Pixar. It’s currently scheduled to release sometime in 2023 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Life In Disney Dreamlight Valley
Until now, the closest people had to a full-fledged Disney game was the Kingdom Hearts series and the Disney Infinity combination of toys and games. However, while those games revolved around action and adventure, Disney Dreamlight Valley aims to be more relaxed. It’s a simulator that lets you create an avatar in the style of a 3D animated Disney/Pixar character. Your avatar can then travel between all the worlds captured in beloved films such as Toy Story and Moana.
While it is unclear whether the game will have objectives or story missions to complete, it’s clear that there will be a variety of activities and tasks to undertake. Footage shows a player’s avatar exploring and interacting with characters in various ways. You’ll be able to participate in iconic film scenes as well as simple things like fishing. In terms of bigger projects, you’ll be able to build structures and farm plots of land.
Disney Dreamlight Valley will launch on all major consoles. However, there don’t appear to be any clear differences between the two versions. The gameplay footage indicates there will be motion-control elements to add to the immersion. As for VR elements, we still haven’t heard. Still, though Disney Dreamlight Valley won’t have a full release until 2023, it will be available this summer on Game Pass.
