Do You Need Call of Duty: Vanguard To Play Warzone Pacific?

Call of Duty: Vanguard Warzone Pacific

While Call of Duty: Vanguard has been off to a bit of a rough start, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have great ideas. What might be interesting to some players is the new Warzone Pacific mode that Vanguard is dropping. This new map to experience Warzone on looks great. However, some players might be wondering if it’s free for everyone, or if you’ll need to buy Vanguard before you can experience the Pacific with your friends. So, can you try out Warzone Pacific without the need to purchase Call of Duty: Vanguard first? Or are the games a package deal?

No, Warzone Pacific is a separate game experience from Vanguard. Owners of Vanguard will be able to play on the newest map Caldera 24 hours earlier than any other players. If you’ve purchased a physical copy, you’ll need to install Vanguard before you’re allowed into your exclusivity period. Otherwise, you can play Warzone Pacific when the game drops at noon on the 9th.

Warzone Caldera is a new map and content update for Warzone, releasing around the same time as Season 1 of Vanguard’s battle pass. The two games share the theme of a Pacific front for wartime, with tropical locations being the key element. There are also minor adjustments to gameplay as well as new characters to play around with.

In terms of new cosmetic content, there are 100 tiers of the battle pass, though a significant portion of the content must be paid for in order to be unlocked on said pass. There are new game modes to explore to improve the game’s monotony just a touch.

While this update may not be the kick-in-the-pants that Warzone needs to overcome the massive obstacles of Fortnite and other popular battle royales, this is surely a step in the right direction. Thankfully, you won’t need to purchase Vanguard to play it, either!
