Does Dread Hunger Have Single Player?

Dread Hunger is a Social Deduction survival game that’s getting a lot of hype. The game is being published by Digital Confectioners and developed by the Dread Hunger Team, the game launches to a very positive reception on Steam, with players leaving positive reviews on the Dread Hunger Steam page. Players interested in the game have also wondered if there is a single player option for the game, in which the answer is very clear and abundant, and might be disappointing to some.

Does Dread Hunger Have Single Player?

Unfortunately, there’s no single-player option in Dread Hunger currently. There has been some speculation that it will be added in the future though, but as of this moment, it’s only rumours.

The reason for that is because the game is simply not built with single player in mind. Being a game under the Social Deduction genre, you will need real life players to play the game to its full potential, and AI NPCs cannot do that.

I can understand why some people don’t like interacting with other players when playing games like Call of Duty or Battlefield.

A lot of players are like that. Some players mute everyone in chat and just enjoy the sounds of gunshots and explosions while running through the battlefield.

But Dread Hunger is simply not designed to be played alone or without any social interaction.

The game requires communication, as you have to find out which of the other 7 crewmembers are the traitors who want to kill you with whatever they have, including mystical dark powers. Basically, the same as Among Us.

The concept of Dread Hunger is the same as Among Us you’re trying to survive on a ship while two people in your crew tries to kill everyone.

The only difference between the two is that Dread Hunger has more gameplay mechanics than Among Us. The game has melee and range combat, a crafting mechanic, an open world that you can traverse using a 19th century ship, as well as a full day and night cycle.

In my opinion, it’s perfectly fine to not have a single player option, as I believe the fun factor won’t be on that same level. If you don’t have 7 other friends to play the game with, then try playing with randoms.
