Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 Confirmed In New Trailer

Dragon Ball helped establish a generation of anime and manga fans across North America and Europe, which also lead to a huge number of games. Of these, the Budokai Tenkaichi series was one of the most popular. Now, after a very long wait, it will finally be getting a fourth entry. Having been confirmed by Bandai Namco, an official trailer for the game recently went live to get people excited. While there’s still much to speculate about the game, many fighting game enthusiasts are already pumped for it. While release may still be a long way off, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 will be appearing on wishlists across the internet.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 Is In Development

In the early 2000s, players and Dragon Ball Z fans finally got the 3D fighting game they wanted from the series Budokai Tenkaichi. After a few years, and a few sequels with improvements here and there, Budokai Tenkaichi went silent. Now, over 15 years later, the name returns in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

This series developed a cult following and still holds a special place in the hearts of many DBZ fans. The trailer gives a nice retrospective of the previous entries and teases what to expect from the fourth entry.

Since the Dragon Ball Z series was established, it provided the perfect basis for fighting games. For the longest time, all fighting games bearing the name were 2D and usually pixelated. While working under these limitations, it became a challenge to capture as much of the intensity and flair of the anime as possible. This changed in 2005 when Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi came out. Although it was a fighting game, it featured full 3D and open-world arenas. Players could fly around the map, take advantage of distance and terrain, or charge in for some rapid close-combat action. With all the time that’s passed since the third game, the fourth is aiming to bring this gameplay into the modern era.

Being a trilogy, Budokai Tenkaichi was not expected to continue. However, Bandai Namco has surprised and enthralled many now that Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is on the way.
