Dying Light 2 is full of varied undead enemies to fight, but none are quite as overbearing as the Volatile. This behemoth of a villain towers over all other goons in the game, and as such requires a very different strategy to defeat. If you’re struggling with a Volatile encounter and need some help, we’re here to explain how to beat them.
How to Beat Volatile in Dying Light 2
More often than not, Volatiles in Dying Light 2 can kill you in one or two hits. Their attacks are as blistering as they are gigantic, so most of the time you’ll want to simply avoid encounters. If you see these hulking beasts approaching you, we recommend sprinting away before they charge at you. At that point, it’ll be too late, as they can catch you up with relative ease.
However, if you have no choice but to beat a Volatile, perhaps to progress to a certain area, there are some approaches you can take. First and foremost, you’ll want to be stocked up on health items, and wearing clothing that comes with the maximum armor. Then, you’ll have to use high-powered weapons like shotguns and rocket launchers; preferably those which are levelled up too. Combine that with a barrage of throwable grenades and well-placed shots, and you’ll slowly be able to chip down the Volatile’s health.
One thing worth bearing in mind is that a Volatile rarely spawns alone. While you won’t encounter more than one Volatile at once, plenty of zombies will spawn around it. Keep on top of them by shooting at those oncoming hordes. It’s also worth throwing grenades to greatly incapacitate them as they trek towards you. Combine that with plenty of health boosts and constantly keeping your distance, and you should be able to beat a Dying Light 2 Volatile.
