Exciting news for all Star Wars fans today, as EA announced three new games set in a galaxy far, far away. As part of the ongoing partnership with Lucasfilm Games, these titles will complement the previously announced Star Wars Eclipse in the coming years. Even more exciting, we know for a fact that one of the games will be a sequel to 2019’s hit Jedi: Fallen Order. We’ve got details on this, and all of the other Star Wars game announcements, below.
Three Star Wars Games Announced By EA
In a statement made on the company’s official website today, EA confirmed that three new Star Wars games are in development. All of them are being helmed by Respawn Entertainment. The studio is known for its work on the first Jedi: Fallen Order, as well as Titanfall and Apex Legends.
The first game announced is a continuation of the Jedi series, making it a sequel to Fallen Order. That game stood apart from the previous Jedi Knight series, with its own story. Released in 2019 to commercial and critical success, a sequel is no surprise. Rumors suggested it would be officially announced at E3 2022, though this announcement now supersedes that. There’s no other detail on what the game will include, but expect a next-gen only experience that continues the story of Cal Kestis.
The other two announcements today are less detailed, but nonetheless exciting. The first is a brand-new FPS from Respawn Entertainment. Due to the change of developer, it seems that it won’t be a Battlefront 3, as DICE isn’t handling this one. Details are slim, but it could well be a continuation of the popular Republic Commando game, that was remastered in 2021.
The last game is a strategy game, made in collaboration with the new studio Bit Reactor. We know the least about this as there hasn’t been a Star Wars strategy game since Empire at War in 2006. However, it seems to be another bold step for the franchise’s gaming output, in what should be three very exciting games.
