Electronic Arts announced today that EA Sports PGA Tour will be launching in Spring of 2023. Presumably, this will coincide with the 2023 Masters golf tournament, which is scheduled from April 6th to the 9th.

EA Sports PGA Tour, the company’s return to a golf sports franchise, was supposed to launch in a few weeks. The game later saw an indefinite delay in November.

The press release promises that EA Sports PGA Tour will be “the only place golf fans can play all four major championships including the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S. Open Championship, and The Open Championship.”

In addition, the game’s features include being able to compete in both The Players Championship and FedExCup Playoffs, as well as the LPGA and The Amundi Evian Championship. The game will also incorporate data from ShotLink, “which will provide extensive amounts of data that will be integrated into the game’s development, resulting in accurate player ratings and skills and magnified true-to-life in-game events. Data from TrackMan, a world leader in 3D ball flight measurement and swing analysis, is also being incorporated into the game to add an additional layer of authenticity by allowing EA’s game designers to perfect gameplay and numerous stats such as club tuning.”

This would be the first golf game EA Sports has released since 2015’s Rory McIlroy PGA Tour in 2015. More details for the 2023 edition of EA Sports PGA Tour will be available closer to launch.

Cam Weber, EVP and GM for EA Sports, had the following to say about the return of the golf franchise. “There are few things in sports that match the thrill of winning a major championship, and we’re excited to bring all four majors – the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S. Open Championship, and The Open Championship – and a true next gen championship golf experience to fans next year. Through our PGA TOUR and LPGA partnerships, all-new PGA TOUR athlete tracking integration, and events like THE PLAYERS Championship and FedExCup Playoffs, players will be able to get an all-access pass to pro championship golf like never before.”

For a game that has been a long time coming, it’ll be interesting to see what EA Sports PGA Tour looks like when it launches. Don’t forget: The came got a cover art back in 2021!
