Both balance changes, performance stability, and bug fixes are featured in Elden Ring Patch 1.03. It has already gone live on all “targeted platforms:” PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

One significant improvement is the ability to mark the name and location of an NPC on the game’s map. This has been a much-requested feature; people have often kept personal journals to mark essential locations for NPCs. Others, like myself, have just used online resources.

The Mimic Tear Ash is another significant balance change for Elden Ring Patch 1.03. It is a powerful summon spirit that many people have used to trivialize the difficulty of certain boss fights. In response, FromSoftware has decreased its damage and changed the spirit’s behavior pattern.

The Sword of Night and Flame’s damage has also been decreased. This is a change that’s been significantly discussed online, but since I’m someone that hasn’t spent too much time in Elden Ring, I have no idea what they’re talking about. By “hasn’t spent too much time,” I mean like 20-30 hours messing around with just about everything in the opening areas. According to our review, this is a pretty big game that’s also a “flex on the entire gaming industry.”

One thing that I am personally happy about? The increased drop rate of Smithing Stone for some enemies and the addition of the smithing stone to some early game shops. Do you know how frustrating it’s been to need Smithing Stone [1] and repeatedly pick up higher ranks of Smithing Stone? Incredibly frustrating. Thank you, Dark Souls Elden Ring Patch 1.03.

Response to these balance changes has been enjoyable to read.
