Many of the unique Incantations in Elden Ring require extensive traveling to obtain. This is definitely the case for Pest Threads, a Servants of Rot spell that produces sticky threads which greatly slow down enemies. It’s the perfect spell to use if you need to give yourself an extra moment of breathing time during a fight. However, to acquire it, you’ll need to do some running around at the behest of two important NPCs. Read on to learn how to get the Pest Threads spell for yourself.
How to Get Pest Threads in Elden Ring
The Pest Threads Incantation can be purchased from Gowry at his shack within Caelid for 7,500 Runes. However, this spell can only be obtained after you’ve helped Gowry cure Millicent of her Scarlet Rot sickness. You’ll need to find a few key items for Millicent before you can get Pest Threads, including the Unalloyed Gold Needle and Valkryie’s Prosthesis.
How to Get the Unalloyed Gold Needle
We’ve covered Millicent’s complete questline in a previous guide, but we’ll summarize the critical points for the Incantation in question. In order to get the Golden Needle needed for Millicent, you’ll have to battle Commander O’Neil. This humanoid boss can be found in the heart of the Swamp of Aeonia. Defeat him, and you’ll receive the Gold Needle, as well as the Commander’s Standard weapon. Once the dust settles, return to Gowry.
The lonely Sage will need to repair the needle, so rest at a grace point to only talk with him once more. Now with the Gold Needle ready for usage, exhaust Gowry’s dialogue, then head toward the Church of the Plague, where Millicent can be seen sitting weakly against a wall.
Speak with Millicent and offer to give her the needle. She’ll need some time to adjust to the cure, so rest a grace point then return to her. She will now be standing, feeling anew. Additionally, she’ll reward you with the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom, a Talisman that raises your Dexterity.
How to Use Valkyrie’s Prosthesis
At this point, return to Gowry’s Shack, where Millicent will now present be but not the Sage himself. Essentially, refresh the area with a grace point rest to find Gowry at his chair again but no Millicent within sight. Talk with Gowry, and he’ll share his gratitude for helping Millicent by opening his Sorcery shop. However, Pest Threads isn’t available for purchase, not yet.
From here, travel to the Shaded Castle in the Altus Plateau. Atop of the castle, guarded by a knight, will be the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis inside of a chest. Once it’s in your possession, travel to the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace. Millicent will be overlooking a cliff to the north. Finally, speak with her to give her the new arm.
The quest concludes by talking with Gowry about the efforts to help Millicent. You can then access his shop to find the Pest Threads Incantation amongst his inventory. As aforementioned, this Incantation will run you 7,500 Runes, requires Faith 11 to use, and costs 19 FP to cast.
