Your character’s statistics are vital to survival in Elden Ring. When you level up, you increase your base attributes to grow your overall power. However, over time, you may wind up wishing you’d allocated your stats differently. Don’t fret: Elden Ring offers a way to completely reset and reallocate your stats. Even better, with the right items, you’ll be able to respec several times per run.
How to Respec in Elden Ring
Before you can reset your stats in Elden Ring, you need to defeat Renalla, Queen of the Full Moon. Once beaten, she’ll take up residence within the Academy. After that, fast travel to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library, then speak with Rennala to respec. Resetting your stats will cost one Larval Tear, which are key items are found all throughout the Lands Between.
Again, you won’t be able to respec until you beat Rennala. She’s the Legend boss you’ll encounter at the Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia. You’ll almost certainly need to level up several times before you even encounter her. Up until then, focus on your main attribute, and only level up the others as needed to casts spells or use Spirit Ash summons.
Executing the respec process requires Larval Tears, which aren’t always the easiest item to get a hold of. Equally, they are consumed upon use, so you’ll want to keep a stash of more than one to ensure you can respec whenever you want to.
Luckily, you can get a Larval Tear for defeating the boulder-disguised Silver Tear enemies in Nokron. Beyond that, several are littered about underground areas, Nokron in particular. Various creatures, including Lesser Runebears and Silver Tears, also drop them once defeated. Equally, you can find one near where you’ll find the Mimic Tear summon, so you’ll always come across Larval Tears as you progress – but mostly in later stages. That’ll let you reset your stats plenty of times, so you can hone your Tarnished to your exact liking.
