Some of the best abilities in Elden Ring aren’t found until you’re near the end of the game. Seppuku is one such weapon skill, and as its name implies, it’s quite the bloody affair. However, in order to get this Ash of War for yourself, you’ll need to conquer Leyndell, the Royal Capital and reach the frozen wastes beyond.
Where to Find the Seppuku Ash of War in Elden Ring
The Seppuku Ash of War is dropped by an invisible scarab in the Mountaintops of the Giants. To find it, you’ll need to explore the area around the Freezing Lake Site of Grace. Look for the scarab’s movements reflected on the ground, then time your attack accordingly. As with other Ashes, it’ll probably take a few tries before you’re able to land a blow successfully. Stay patient, follow the scarab’s tracks, and Seppuku will be yours in no time.
Of course, the invisible scarab is the least of the requirements here. You won’t be able to find the Seppuku skill until you’ve reached beyond Leyndell, the Royal Capital. The Mountaintops of the Giants opens up right near the end of Elden Ring, with access being locked behind several big boss battles, notably Godfrey, the First Elden Lord. As such, this is an ability best saved for late-game players.
That’s probably for the best, too, considering what the skill does. Seppuku has your character draw their sword and jam it through their abdomen. Doing so hurts you, but increases the weapon’s attack power and greatly bolsters its potential to apply blood loss.
Blood loss is one of the more potent offensive strategies available in the game. Seppuku is often combined with the Rivers of Blood katana as well as the White Mask to maximize its potential. Several bosses and most basic enemies are susceptible to blood loss, making it a great stealth or stick-and-retreat strategy. Just remember that even activating this Ash of War will deal damage to yourself. Be sure to plan accordingly.
