The Lands Between are not just land in Elden Ring. There are a lot of environments for you to explore, some of which are oceans and beachfronts. And, if you look closely, you can see islands just beyond the reach of the shore! As you explore this fantastic world, you may start thinking: can you swim in Elden Ring? If not, how do you get to those islands? We’ll tell you!
Can You Swim in Elden Ring?
There is no way to swim in Elden Ring. No upgrade or ability will allow players to survive in deep water. You can walk through knee-deep water without dying, but water is otherwise just as deadly as a giant pit. You must discover other ways to get to the large islands that you can find in the Lands Between.
Being able to swim would be such a huge help in the game. There are actually quite a few islands that are just out of reach of yourself – or your horse.
If you find yourself cut off from being able to access an area due to water, there are a few things you can do:
- Check for nearby dungeons. A dungeon cave can be what you need to cross the sea and get to the other side.
- Check for nearby teleports. Some islands can only be accessed via teleportation. Check out some of the nearby area. Otherwise, you may need to explore out-of-the-box areas to get to where you’re looking for.
- Check for overland passages. Some islands can be jumped to using your horse’s Spiritjump feature. Look for large updrafts and see if you can get Torrent to fly you there.
Unfortunately, if none of these seem to work for you, it’s possible you just don’t have access to that island yet. This is fine! You will find a way onto those islands eventually.
