Fall Guys x Ratchet & Clank is the Latest Cross-Game Tie-In

Fall Guys

The new limited-time promotion arrived in Fall Guys today, and it’s celebrating the success of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Everyone’s favorite Lombax hero, and his robot sidekick, arrive in the bubbly battle royale game with exclusive skins, a new game mode, and a series of objectives to complete.

The crossover event was announced on July 22. Ratchet week is currently ongoing, and Clank week is due to start in early August. The focus is on playing the brand-new game mode, called Squad Duos show. Fitting with the Ratchet and Clank series, you’ll have to work alongside a teammate to win the show and complete objectives. This week, the ultimate goal is completing all the tasks, which will unlock you an exclusive Ratchet skin. Developers Mediatonic revealed the unlock requirements in a tweet today:

After the current Ratchet objectives, you can pretty much guarantee that we’ll see a similar scenario during Clank week. Those objectives will likely be different – but you’ll need to put in a similar amount of work to play as Clank in Fall Guys.

Of course, it’s quite an advantageous deal for both Mediatonic, and Ratchet and Clank developers Insomniac Games. This year’s Rift Apart was a huge sales success, meaning future entries in the franchise are all but guaranteed. It also marks yet another big-name crossover in Fall Guys, as other franchises like Godzilla and Sonic the Hedgehog have appeared in the game before.

The Rise of Big-Name Video Game Crossovers

In fact, it’s further proof of just how successful live-service games can be in crossing over with existing franchises. Ratchet and Clank even did it recently, bringing over several beloved PlayStation franchises in their portal-hopping story. Call of Duty Warzone recently did the same by adding Hollywood action heroes Rambo and John McClane to the battle royale sensation. Games like Dead by Daylight rely on existing franchises, from Resident Evil to Saw, to keep players engaged. It seems like this is the way the industry is headed. We’re heading towards big-name crossovers that’ll entice fans to try out new games. If you love these franchises, it means even more of them – and that can’t be a bad thing.
