The 25th anniversary of Fallout continues with Bethesda’s announcement of a Fallout 4 next gen release.
2023 will see the release of Fallout 4 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The free update adds performance mode features for higher frame rates, 4K resolution, and more. If Fallout 4 is looking to release on as many platforms as Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, they’ve got a long way to go.
With Bethesda Game Studios focused on Starfield and the next Elder Scrolls games, this may be the last Fallout update we see in a while, aside from Fallout 76. Obsidian founder Feargus Urquhart mentioned he’d love to make a new Fallout game. “If we ever got the opportunity to make another Fallout game, we’d make it,” he said.
One day we’ll see a new game in the Fallout series. Todd Howard promises that it will leave us speechless whenever we see it.
The upcoming Fallout 4 next gen update wraps up the Fallout 25th anniversary celebration. It began with Fallout 76 going free-to-play for a limited time earlier this month. More Fallout 76 updates and celebrations are coming within the next couple of weeks.
In honor of Halloween, the Spooky Scorched returns through November 8th. A Fallout 25th anniversary challenge is also coming from October 25th through November 8th.
Prime Gaming subscribers can claim the 25th Anniversary Bundle for Fallout 76. It is available through Prime Gaming Rewards from November 2nd through February 2nd, 2023.

It’s a long wait for Fallout 5, but at least Fallout 76 and now the next-gen Fallout 4 update keeps the franchise updated.
