Insomniac Games, the studio behind the excellent Marvel’s Spider-Man series, has posted another job listing looking for another developer with multiplayer experience. This particular skill they are looking for out of potential hires led fans of the franchise to believe that the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would feature multiplayer in some capacity.
Fans Speculate That The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Would Feature Multiplayer Based On Insomniac’s New Job Listing
Insomniac’s new job posting for a Lead Game Play Engineer states that the candidate must have experience dealing with “great multiplayer features,” indicating that at least one of the studio’s upcoming games would include the game mode. Fans speculate it to be the upcoming sequel for the highly-acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man or the recently announced Wolverine game.
Expounding this fan theory is the fact that the same job posting references a drop-in, drop-out functionality, which is common in co-op adventure games and multiplayer RPGs. Seeing that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 revolves around Peter Parker and Miles Morales teaming up as a pair of “Spider-Men,” you cannot blame fans of the series to believe that the game would have the option to go multiplayer.
That being said, multiplayer fans shouldn’t get their hopes up much as Insomniac’s desire to include an experienced multiplayer mode developer on the team does not necessarily mean that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will allow players to have just that.
So far, Insomniac hasn’t revealed a lot of information about the highly-anticipated game. Besides a teaser trailer that was released at last year’s PlayStation Showcase, there haven’t been any other reveals related to it. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently scheduled to release exclusively on the PS5 this next year.
