Far Cry 6 Male or Female Choice | Does It Matter?

Far Cry 6 Male or Female Choice

As you might expect from a Ubisoft game, Far Cry 6 doesn’t reinvent the wheel, choosing instead to refine the successful formula established by its predecessors. However, that’s not to say that the game doesn’t bring anything new to the table. There are a few important additions you’re certain to notice, including the fact that you can choose the protagonist’s gender. But aside from role-playing reasons, does it matter whether Dani Rojas is male or female? Keep reading to find out.

Does Far Cry 6 Male or Female Choice Matter?

Does Far Cry 6 Male or Female Choice Matter?

There are quite a few games out there, especially RPGs, where your character’s gender impacts the gameplay or story in some form or another. Far Cry 6 isn’t one of those games. You don’t have to worry about missing out on anything regardless of whether you play Dani as male or female. There are no unique dialogue options in either case. You can expect NPCs to use different pronouns during conversations, but that’s about it.

In other words, the choice between a male or female protagonist makes no difference to story or gameplay. However, you will notice some cosmetic differences if you decide to try out both options during different playthroughs of Far Cry 6. Namely, there will be some differences in terms of the clothing worn by Dani. You won’t notice them all that often because Far Cry 6 is a first-person game, but you can still admire your character and their clothes during cutscenes. Of course, your passport photo will change accordingly as well, as can be seen when you make the male or female choice near the beginning of the game.

To sum it up, if you’re familiar with games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla you’ll know exactly what to expect here. Just like Valhalla’s Eivor, the male or female choice in Far Cry 6 is purely cosmetic. According to Ubisoft, this is because “both Danis are equal, both are canon.” There’s no important difference between them, so feel free to choose the version you like best.
