Activision has announced the final Warzone season on the Call of Duty website.
Last Stand, the season’s name, represents the end of Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone seasonal releases. It will bring new updates to the “three gaming experiences” of the franchise.
The Caldera map will see new updates and changes on the Warzone front. Volcanic activity is being introduced to the island. A new Gulag is included as well. Some technical updates improve the quality of the skies and lighting, proving that the final Warzone update isn’t just about gameplay features.
New maps will be included for Vanguard. Beheaded is available at the launch of the final Warzone season. Fortress is going to be added at a later date.
The Zombies update, entitled “The Archon,” continues the story. Players will square off against Kortifex the Deathless within the Dark Aether.
A total of five new weapons are featured in the final Warzone season:
- EX1, a prototype energy riffle, is available at launch.
- RA 225, a high fire rate and mobile SMG, is available at launch.
- Valois Revolver, a combo knife/revolver, is available in the “launch window.”
- The BP50 and Lienna 57 Assault Rifle will be available in the midseason update.
Many suspect that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will also bring an official sequel to Warzone when it launches. As of right now, this is still speculation, but it lines up with a supposed internal leak from Activision Blizzard.
Last Stand, the final Warzone season and last update for Call of Duty: Vanguard launches on August 24ht.
