The Silent Hill series has laid dormant for nearly a decade. Konami is finally ready to lift the veil on the franchise’s future.
Konami updated social media and the official Silent Hill website to prepare for an event later this week. On Wednesday, October 19th, at 2:00 PM PDT, they will reveal the latest updates for the Silent Hill franchise.
Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito, who have previously worked on the series, shared and hyped up the reveal event. This gives credence that a video game announcement is imminent, rather than a movie, television series, or other random reveals.
VGC reported last month that a remake of Silent Hill 2 is in the works. One of the best PS2 games of all time, Silent Hill 2 is a landmark in the horror genre that could put the series back on the map.
Silent Hill was most recently in the news for the P.T. demo. Developed by Kojima Studios in collaboration with Guillermo del Toro, it teased a possible glimpse of the future of Silent Hill. Konami inexplicitly canceled the related Silent Hill project and made it impossible to reinstall the P.T. demo from the PlayStation Store.
That hasn’t stopped people from trying to download it. Lance McDonald recently got P.T. working on their fully updated, non-jailbroken PlayStation 5.
A new Silent Hill game would be a perfect way to celebrate the Halloween season of gaming. We’ll see what Konami has up its sleeve later this week.
