Steam is one of the most popular storefronts on PC with a vast library having thousands of games on offer. It has become the go-to destination for gamers looking to get their hands on the latest and greatest titles.
However, no service is completely bug-free and some users have been reporting about the games missing or now showing up in their library. This can be really annoying if you wish to play your favourite game after spending your hard-earned cash to purchase it.
This guide will tell you how to fix games missing from Steam Library.
Game Disappeared from Steam Library – Solution?
According to reports by players on various forums, the games in their Steam library suddenly disappeared after installing a fresh copy of Windows on their computer while others reported the game not showing despite making a recent purchase.
There could be a multitude of reasons behind the mysterious disappearance of games from the library however according to Valve, the main reason is the presence of a secondary Steam account. This usually happens when you have one or more Steam accounts and the game that you are trying to search for is associated with a different one.

Even if you are logged in to the correct account then chances are that the filter in the library is set incorrectly. Make sure that you are using the Steam account associated with that particular game and the filters are set to display all the games even the ones which are not currently installed on your PC.

In case, some games are still missing from your library then you can toggle an option to check for any hidden games. Just click on View from the top menu and press the Hidden Games button to display all hidden titles.
In order to remove any game that you have accidentally hidden, just right-click on it and select Manage. Choose the Remove from Hidden option and voila, the game will no longer be hidden from your library.
If you have recently purchased a game and it is still not appearing in your library then chances are that your payment isn’t successful or is still being processed by the client. Check your email for the purchase receipt or view your purchase history from the client.
Try logging out and then logging back in to check if the game has been added to the library. If a pre-load button is appearing on a game instead of install then it means that the title is installed on your computer but you no longer have access to it.
This happens when a game is associated with another Steam account or you no longer have access to it via the Family Share feature.
You can also try flushing Steam’s local cache to fix the issue by opening your browser and entering “steam://flushconfig” and pressing enter. Press OK when the prompt appears and you are good to go.

Another possible reason is Steam is unable to detect the installation directory on your computer and you might need to add them manually by heading into the Downloads tab and clicking on the Steam Library option. Click on the Add Library Folder button and choose the directory where your Steam games are installed.
That’s it, now go ahead and follow these steps to restore missing games in your Steam Library!
