Gears 5 Dominic Santiago Skin – How to Unlock

Gears 5 Dominic Santiago Skin

The Gears 5 Dominic Santiago skin was added into the game with the Brothers in Arms update on July 15. The character hasn’t been seen in the franchise since Gears of War 4 and has been a long-time fan favorite. In this guide, we are going to explain how to unlock Dominic Santiago in Gears 5: Brothers in Arms.

How to Unlock Dominic Santiago in Gears 5: Brothers in Arms

To unlock the Gears 5 Dominic Santiago skins, players will need to collect Gears Coins and stars in Tour of Duty. There are two skins players can get, Classic Dom from Gears of War 1 and 2 and Commando Dom, which depicts a younger version of the character prior to the franchise.

Both Gears 5 Dominic Santiago skins are fairly easy to unlock. The Classic Dom skin from Gears of War 1 and 2 will be available via the in-game store for the next few months and costs 2,000 Gears Coins, a new in-game currency that are replacing the previous currency, Iron.

Gears Coins can be purchased for real money, but are also available by leveling up in the Tour of Duty (Gears 5’s version of the battle pass) with a much greater frequency than their predecessor. Additionally, the reward for reaching Rank 2 in the Tour of Duty is in fact 2,000 Gears coins, meaning if it’s Dom you’re after, you can afford him in no time.

The Commando Dom skin isn’t much harder to obtain as it is unlocked within the Tour of Duty. Rewarded at Rank 19 or Sergeant 5, the Commando Dom skin doesn’t cost any Gears Coins and will simply be given to the player once they’ve earned enough stars to reach that rank.

These stars can be earned by completing three daily challenges, which offer between one and six stars for completion. Further, these tasks will require the player to complete challenges such as 15 kills in multiplayer while using a specific skin, completing 20 waves of Horde mode, and more.

The Tour of Duty challenges, which will be available for the next few months, will also provide a lot of stars and are unlocked by completing more long-term tasks such as lifetime kills or headshots. Playing fairly frequently and aiming to complete the daily challenges will net a player with the Commando Dom skin in no time at all.

The Gears 5 Dominic Santiago character is certainly the highlight of Brothers in Arms update, but developers have also added several other new skins to be earned, including the return of Paduk from Gears of War: Judgement in his Kilo Squad garb, as well as Desert Marcus, UIR cosmonaut, and UIR Swarm Grenadier.
