Genshin Impact is a brand new, free-to-play fantasy RPG and developer MiHoYo has worked hard to ensure that all audiences are happy with the visual and sound design of the new RPG. And that includes voices! If you want to change the character’s and narration’s voice to a new language, including giving them a Japanese voice, it’s super simple. Check out our guide to changing the game’s language!
How to Turn On Japanese Voice in Genshin Impact
In Genshin Impact, to change language from the default to a Japanese voice, go to the options menu and scroll down until you get to “Language.” After you do that, there’s the “Game Language” and “Voice Over Language” options. Game Language is for text, and Voice Over is for voices. So, if you want Japanese voices with English subtitles, set Game Language to English, and Voice Over to Japanese.
In case you wanted something else, the game has four voice over languages: English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. There are more options for text than languages, so you have loads of text options.
The voice over language options does little to affect story or gameplay, although some may find the different options more appealing. If you wish to enjoy multiple different voices over the campaign, you may change voices at any point by simply pausing and navigating the options menu. That’s right, you don’t even have to be on the main menu! Changes apply right away, but you might have to wait for any current voice lines to finish before hearing the change.
Genshin Impact is an open-world fantasy RPG that’s free to play on major consoles (except Switches) and mobile phones.
