Genshin Impact is fairly unique, in that every enemy is important. You need to find and destroy everything if you want to get experience for all characters. One important enemy is the Skirmisher. These units drop insignias, which are so important for augments. However, finding them and grinding them can be tricky. That’s why we’ve found the Skirmishers and have pointed them out to you!
Where to Find Skirmishers in Genshin Impact
In order to grind the Skirmishers, you’ll need to head to a few different important locations. These are Luhua Pool (down the road of the waypoint), Lingju Pass (into the pit), Dadaupa Gorge (to the west and to the east), and Tianqui Valley (to the west of the waypoint). You can farm a handful of Skirmishers from each of these waypoints.
Skirmishers have the Insignias (Recruit’s Insignia, Sergeant’s Insignia, Lieutenant’s Insignia) for drops. The higher level, the more of the lower-level drops you get, and the more likely you are to get the better ones. Farming these will get you the upgrade pieces for Diluc, Ningguang, and Tartaglia.
To fully upgrade any of these units from Ascension 0 to maximum Ascension, you need the following amount of each: 18 Recruit’s Insignia, 30 Sergeant’s Insignia, and 36 Lieutenant’s Insignia. It is more useful to farm these guys at higher levels so that you can get more of the parts you need more of.
In addition, these insignias can upgrade weapons. The Insignias all upgrade the same group of weapons. Unfortunately, they all only upgrade one five-star weapon — the Primordial Jade Winged-Spear. They are the materials to upgrade Prototype Rancour, at least!
Upgrading a weapon to max ascension costs more based on your stars, unlike ascending characters. If you only have a three or four-star weapon, you need much fewer insignias of all three types and can farm less as a result.
In either case – character or weapon – you’ll likely need to do a few rotations of the spawn points to get all of the skirmishers that you’ll need for your ascensions. That’s fine! Each gives a pretty good amount of insignias based on their level, so it shouldn’t take you too long, even if you want to max out a character.
