Ghostface Joins Warzone in ‘The Haunting’ Halloween Event

Ghostface

The annual Call of Duty: Warzone Halloween event is upon us, with The Haunting due to start next week. In keeping with the horror-based yearly tradition, Ghostface from the Scream movie franchise will arrive as a playable operator. He joins other horror movie icons like Leatherface and Jigsaw as Warzone operators. As such, Activision’s behemoth battle royale title is becoming a horror aficionados’ first stop to play as their favorite villains.

While The Haunting was rumored to be this year’s Halloween event last month, a new trailer posted by the official Call of Duty account today confirms that.

The trailer shows CoD professional Swagg engrossed in some tense FPS action. He’s interrupted by a phone call, which turns out to be Scream‘s Ghostface. He utters a variation of his iconic catchphrase, asking Swagg what his favorite place to drop in is. It’s official confirmation that Ghostface is this year’s horror operator – which is fitting, as the new Scream movie releases next year.

In last year’s event, two other horror movie iconic appeared in Warzone. They were Leatherface from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Jigsaw from the Saw franchise. Each was a buyable operator in the item store, which cost CoD Points to unlock. As such, we can assume that Ghostface will function in a similar way. He’ll likely have his own catchphrases and decals to use, too.

With Ghostface’s arrival all but confirmed, Warzone is fast becoming a horror movie haven. The game has previously hosted action movie staples like Die Hard‘s John McClane and Rambo, too. While these Hollywood icons are locked behind a paywall, it grants players the freedom to use their favorite characters when tearing down Verdansk.

The Warzone Haunting event starts on October 19, running until November 2. Enjoy the spooky annual event!
