Grand Theft Auto 6 To Feature Series First Female Protagonist

Rockstar has been living up to its name by creating the no-holds-barred series of Grand Theft Auto and the next entry will stand apart from all the rest. Some details about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 have revealed that the game will feature a female protagonist. The series has a long standing tradition of unhinged, violent, and criminal-associated men leading the headlines but Rockstar is shifting its gears for the next adventure. Though it’s rumored that the game may be releasing in 2024, it’s best to focus on what has been confirmed for it when it finally does release.

It was in 1997 that players got their first taste of Grand Theft Auto. Starting from an almost cartoon-like top down perspective, it evolved into full 3D with Grand Theft Auto 3. That series has evolved, of course, and GTA6 is now next in line for the throne.

Though there’s been a lot of uncertainty surrounding the game’s development status, Rockstar has been giving some details. One major feature that has just been confirmed is a female protagonist. GTA has had plenty of female characters, but never before has one been made lead. The yet-to-be-named heroine will also reportedly be of Latina heritage.

One of the qualities that gives GTA games their mass appeal is how immersive they can be. No surprises, Grand Theft Auto 6 is shaping up to look the same. You’ll take control of a character who rises from street thug to criminal kingpin. As players prove they’re both skilled and dangerous, they’ll slowly move up the ranks until they’re the ones with power. Since Grand Theft Auto 6 may take place in a Miami-inspired city, you can expect plenty of heat.

Rockstar hasn’t made any commitments to release dates or roadmaps just yet. Still, they want everyone to know that Grand Theft Auto 6 is very much happening. Other major details still remain unclear, but we do at least know Rockstar is ready to get the hype train rolling.
