Obsidian’s Grounded has officially released into Early Access and is available everywhere for players to try out. While there are plenty of areas to explore and items to craft, there are currently only a few missions in the game that players can complete, prompting many to wonder when Grounded will get new content and what its update schedule looks like.
What Does the Grounded Update Schedule Look Like?
While we don’t know a whole lot about new content, Obsidian has given players a quick look at the game’s new content schedule, revealing that the game will receive monthly updates. Further, the first Grounded update will be released on August 27, with more details about its content plans coming soon.
Grounded has reached 1 MILLION players in the first 48 hours! Thank you everyone! YOU are the reason we are having as much as we are, and without you we wouldn’t be here!
To show his thanks, Grounded’s Game Director, Adam Brennecke, has a special message: pic.twitter.com/zYoucNfRmm

The announcement of the Grounded update schedule was made on Twitter by the game’s director Adam Brennecke, as seen in the tweet above. The announcement was also celebrating a major milestone for the team, with the game having over one million players in the first 48 hours.
“The team is so happy and we are just overjoyed with all the support we are getting,” shared Brennecke. “I just want to announce that we are going to have monthly updates to the game. The first monthly update is scheduled for August 27, so stay tuned for more information about that update.”
With the game in Early Access, a lot of players were wondering how often new content would be added to the game, especially with there only being minimal storyline quests available in its initial release. So it’s nice to see the team at Obsidian shedding some light on what players can expect from the update schedule, and it looks like we won’t have to wait long for the first batch of new content.
Grounded is currently available on Xbox One and PC Game Pass to subscribers for free or can be purchased from your platform’s store for $30. While you’re waiting for new content, be sure to check out some of our guides for the backyard in the links below.
