GTA Online - What is GTA Plus?

Several brands have started offering “plus” services and memberships. PlayStation Plus, Paramount Plus; there was even CNN Plus for just shy of a month. Never one to be left out of the loop, Grand Theft Auto Online has gotten in on the “plus” action as well. Its new service is branded as GTA Plus. But what is it? What benefits does it provide, and more importantly, how much does it cost?

What is GTA Plus?

According to Rockstar’s own announcement, GTA Plus is a new premium membership service for Grand Theft Auto Online. It launched on March 29th, 2022 and is exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Here are some of the GTA+ perks for those who choose to join:

  • A monthly deposit of $500,000 into your character’s bank account
  • Opportunities to claim properties and upgrades from previous events that you may have missed out on
  • Exclusive member discounts on game items
  • Bonuses to GTA$ and RP earned, just to name a few

The linked announcement also mentions several additional perks will be added every month in addition to the recurring bonuses. Most recently, these include waived LS Car Meet Membership fees and several other zero-cost upgrades.

How Much Does It Cost?

GTA Plus costs $5.99 US or £4.99 UK per month. That price includes all standard bonuses as well as those which rotate out on a monthly basis. It’s a decent value, considering the first bonus is a flat sum of GTA$500,000. To buy that amount of in-game cash, you’d normally have to spend about $10 USD for a Bull Shark Cash Card.

Of course, being a good value doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good deal. That depends on how much you plan to play GTA Online on your new PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. This is, after all, the third console generation this game has released for. Pair this with all the recent rumors of Grand Theft Auto 6 and the hype building up, Rockstar is likely trying to push one last profitable hurrah out of the game before player counts dwindle.
