Haven Studios, founded by Jade Raymond a year ago, was acquired by Sony. They are now officially a part of the PlayStation family.
As a newer studio, their in-development game has not yet been publicly revealed. We know that Haven Studios is working on a live service game for the PlayStation 5.
Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios, had the following regarding the acquisition.
Jade Raymond brings a wealth of experience from her industry achievements and an infectious passion for creating games, and the leadership team at Haven is an equally impressive group of industry veterans who have collaborated on some of the biggest and most beloved games and franchises that many of us still enjoy today.Source: PlayStation Blog
Jade Raymond has been in the game industry since 2002. She helped create and produce the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which launched in 2007. She also played a role in the creation of the Watch Dogs franchise. She moved from Ubisoft to Electronic Arts in 2015. She founded Motived Studios, based in Montreal, and worked on Star Wars: Battlefront II. In 2018, Raymond left EA and worked for Google, helping to create content for the Stadia streaming platform.
She left Google in February 2021, founding Haven Studios a month later.
A statement from Raymond was included in the announcement. An excerpt is included below.
Today, the Haven team begins a new phase of our journey, as part of the PlayStation Studios family. Working with Hermen, Connie Booth and the team at PlayStation over the past year has been a career highlight. SIE is a supportive partner that truly understands the creative process and what it takes to make a blockbuster AAA game. They have empowered and encouraged us to bring our bold vision to life and make our dreams come true and we could not be more thrilled about this opportunity to strengthen our partnership.
There is no word on when we’ll see the debut game from Haven Studios at this time.
