IO Interactive announced today that the Hitman trilogy will release on January 20th. It will be available digitally and be a part of Xbox Game Pass.
In addition to Game Pass, Hitman Trilogy will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and the Epic Games Store and Steam. The trilogy includes all three entries in the “World of Assassination” trilogy: Hitman (2016), Hitman 2 (2018), and Hitman 3 (2021). This marks the first time Hitman 3 will be available on Steam.
Today’s news also includes a Year 2 roadmap for Hitman 3.
The Elusive Target Arcade, also releasing January 20th, is a new game mode. It expands upon the current Elusive Target mode by having players target consecutive contracts. Failing to complete a contract will result in a 12-hour lockout. According to IO Interactive, “Arcade Contracts are permanent additions to Hitman 3.”
With the release on PC, the Hitman Trilogy will also support VR. IO mentions that you can play them in VR as long as you can access any of the games. A VR recording from Eskil Møhl, Senior game designer at IO, was also teased.
In more PC news, Year 2 of Hitman 3 will now include Ray Tracing. However, a release date was not given for Ray Tracing beyond “later this year.” Plans to implement Intel’s XeSS technology, “which uses machine learning to deliver more performance with exceptional image quality,” are also in the works.
This spring, an all-new single-player mode called Freelancer will release for Hitman 3. Per IO Interactive, it “introduces roguelike elements, strategic planning, and a customizable safehouse. More details will be revealed later this year, closer to the mode’s release.
A new map with the codename “Rocky” was also teased.

Fun fact – this coincides exactly with all the Trilogy DLC going super cheap for Hitman 3 on PS4. IO really know how to hedge their bets, amirite?
