Fans of the Harry Potter franchise are quick to realize its importance, with the very casting bringing down many memorable characters from the books and films. But as a fifth-year student at Hogwarts, you actually have the opportunity to learn the wicked spell. Of course, professors at Hogwarts dare not teach such a spell, but there is one particular student who can show you the deadly ropes. How to Unlock the Avada Kedavra Spell in Hogwarts Legacy
Spoiler Warning: Unlocking the Avada Kedavra curse ties into a major plot point that occurs later on in Hogwarts Legacy. Please read with discretion as there are spoilers ahead for the “In the Shadow of the Relic” quest.
Players will need to process much further into the main story of Hogwarts Legacy while completing Sebastian Sallow’s side quests. This Slytherin student has learned the wicked spell by means of his own personal gain. He tells us the reasoning behind the discovery of the Killing Curse, which eventually prompts the player to respond if anyone should be aware of its presence. There are two choices: “No one should know that curse,” and “Everyone should know that curse”. Select the latter, then Sebastian will offer to teach it to you. Agree to the proposition with “Yes please”.
From there, Sebastian will teach you Adava Kedavra, one of three Unforgivable Curses. The other two are Crucio and Imperio, which are obtained prior to the Avada Kedavra spell. What makes the Killing Curse quite identifiable from the others is its design: a lightning bolt that closely resembles Harry Potter’s famous scar. And of course, its ultimate result: instant death.
Of course, you can practice casting the Killing Curse before even starting Sebastian’s “In the Shadow of…” line of quests. Dark Arts Battle Arenas are spread throughout the map of Hogwarts Legacy that allows you to test out all three Unforgivable Curses against Dark Wizards, goblins, and trolls. Evidently, these are merely a side activity for you to stretch out your combative methods; the only way to learn Avada Kedavra is by completing Sebastian Sallow’s quests. He is a Slytherin after all, which isn’t entirely surprising.
