The new Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy is billed as the definitive wizarding game. You’ll step into the shoes of a new Hogwarts student, exploring the castle, shooting spells, and uncovering a deep mystery. But of course, Quidditch is equally synonymous with the series: the broom-riding magical sport at which Harry excels. So, does Hogwarts Legacy let you play Quidditch?
Can You Play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy. This is confirmed on the game’s official website, which states that it isn’t part of the gameplay on offer.
This will no doubt come as sad news to Harry Potter die-hards desperate to try out the sport within a video game. Previous entries in the franchise have included it, however. Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup from 2003 came with a range of tournament modes, while the first LEGO Harry Potter game also contains a Quidditch level.
While you won’t be able to play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy, you can still ride a broomstick. “Broom flight for traversal and broom race challenges are part of the game. Players can also fly brooms to explore new and familiar locations,” the game’s website confirms. As such, you’ll be able to traverse the open world on a broomstick, even if you can’t use it competitively.
Of course, if Hogwarts Legacy is a success, don’t be surprised to see the sport arrive in a sequel. There’s a dedicated question about it specifically on the game’s FAQ page, which suggests the developers know just how popular it would be. There likely won’t be an addition as DLC, given how big an expansion it would likely be.
Instead, hold your breath for a sequel. That may enrich the Hogwarts experience even further, by letting you take flight and win a Quidditch match. Maybe there will even be a Quidditch World Cup mode!
