Today, we’re going to go over a list of some of our favorite horror games out now while going over the ones we’re looking forward to the most. Grab a spiced apple cider, bundle up under the blankets, and turn the lights off.

You awaken at the bottom of the Ocean in a strange and abandoned Underwater base. You aren’t sure how you got here. The only life forms around are strange and enraged Robots that want you dead. Much like Outlast and Amnesia, you have no way to defend yourself. You must run and hide from the Robots to find out how you got here and if there’s a way out. T
his game will have you questioning what it is to be human by the end. It is my personal choice in this genre as one of the scariest games out there.
The Quarry is one of the best horror games to come out in years

The Quarry has you taking control of an ensemble of camp counselors on their last night at Hackets Quarry. Someone, or something, is stalking the counselors, and it’s up to you to keep as many of them alive at the end as you can. Take control of each character multiple times to uncover the dark secret of the Quarry, and survive the night until help arrives.

Song of Horror is a horror game with permadeath, making it 1000 times scarier

Permadeath adds a level of fear to modern games, and this one is no exception. Song of Horror features a terrible song from an antique music box that curses anyone who hears its melody. Naturally, you are the latest victim to listen to its theme. In a race against time, you must uncover the origin of the music box and avoid what lurks in the shadows.
Fans of classic survival horror (Resident Evil, Silent Hill) will love this modern-day spin on the franchise. Solve puzzles, run from the being in the shadows, and find a way to end this curse or join its chorus.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 game

Scorn looks like an atmospheric nightmare, making one of several perfect games for Halloween to scare your pants off

Scorn throws you into a nightmarish planet with no explanation. If you can, you must explore your surroundings to find answers to how you arrived here as you try to escape.
Armed with a pistol and three-barreled shotgun, shoot your way through the alien planet, or be lost to its monsters. Scorn will also be a day one title for Xbox Game Pass.
The upcoming Shadows of Rose DLC for Resident Evil: Village brings you back to one of the best horror games in years

The Shadows of Rose DLC sets to finish the story of the Winters Family. Taking place 16 years after the event of Resident Evil Village, Ethan’s daughter Rose is all grown up and wants to rid herself of her powers.
Traveling back in time using memories from the events that unfolded, can she rid herself of her powers and live a normal life? Also included in this package is a third-person camera mode for the main game and new mercenaries scenarios featuring Lady Dimetresc, among other characters.
The Devil In Me is the latest from the masters of horror games, Supermassive Games

Fans of the Dark Pictures Anthology have been waiting all year for this one. The fourth and final installment of this season’s story is set in the Murder Hotel. For those unfamiliar, the Murder Hotel was a real-life event in 1890s America, where serial killer H.H. Holmes set up traps in his Hotels to lure unsuspecting victims to their ends.
The game features several playable characters in an ever-changing story. The fates of each character are entirely in your hands. The only question is, can you live with the decisions you make?
Autopsy Simulator is exactly what it sounds, making it one of our perfect games for Halloween for those that are into everything macabre

The Callisto Protocol is shaping up to be one of the best horror games of 2022

It may not release in time to be one of your 2022 Halloween games, but hey, there’s always Halloween 2023, right?
Set 300 Years in the future, The Callisto Protocol will give the audience huge dead space vibes. Players must face their fears and traverse a huge Lunar prison (Black Iron Prison) overrun by monsters and infected humans. Uncover the truth of what happened to this base to give humanity a chance to survive beyond the stars.
Atomic Heart is a utopian sci-fi RPG that may provide a wonderful horror experience

Fallout fans should have a good time with this one. Set in an alternate retro-future version of the 1950s USSR, Professor Sechenov invents a new power source, the Polymer.
This substance promises to send the USSR back to superpower status after its losses during World War 2. Fight hordes of AI-based robots and other lab-based creations as you traverse your way through Facility №3826
The Dead Space Remake brings back one of the greatest horror games ever made

Fans of the Original Dead Space (2008) have likely already heard about the remake. While the original studio, Visceral Games, shut down, Motive Studios looks to revitalize the series.
Some of the featured changes beyond graphics include a rework of Issac Clark’s character. Remember now, Issac isn’t a warrior or a soldier; he’s an engineer and a mostly mute one in the original game.
Expect Issac to have more personality this time, as he’s had two other games to develop his character. Other changes include reworking his RIG suit and a new UI-integrated view of Issac’s equipment and status.
The upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake will be the return of a genre-defining experience

Not too much is listed for this release yet, aside from a couple of tidbits, but we’re still excited for the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
We have had one new trailer showing off a little bit of the story, but sadly that’s about it for now. The team members that handled the Resident Evil 2 Remake are working on this one, so we’re hoping this project turns out just as well.
Expect a re-imagining of the main storyline with new gameplay improvements, much like Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes.
Broken Veil is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated puzzle-based horror games

Fans of little nightmares may find this next game interesting. Broken Veil tells the story of a boy searching for his mother during the collapse of the soviet union. The game’s protagonist is afflicted with Prosopagnosia (Face Blindless), meaning he cannot recognize and distinguish facial features. This creates a world of uncertainty where both friends and foes, as well as monsters and people, are identical. Use your wits, quick timing, and willpower to survive and conquer the trials that lie before you.
