How to Activate the Rift Passage Lift in Jedi: Survivor

Activate the rift passage lift

The Observatory Understructure in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is an area many Jedi are drawn to. After all, it’s a floating base in the sky, so we can’t help but feel inclined to investigate its whereabouts. The only issue, being in the middle of the sky and all, is that it’s not all that easy to reach. You can, however, get to the Observatory Understructure using the Rift Passage Lift. The only issue with that, is you need to activate it first before you can use it, which many players appear to be struggling with. So keep reading to learn how to activate the Rift Passage Lift.

How to Activate the Rift Passage Lift

The Rift Passage Lift simply acts as a shortcut to the Observatory Understructure.

Although you come across the Rift Passage Lift in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor relatively early in the game, you can’t actually activate it until you reach Chapter 5 and complete the “Confront Dagan at the Koboh Observatory Main Objective.” That’s because you can only activate the Rift Passage Lift from the top, and this mission naturally takes you there. In other words, you can’t activate the Rift Passage Lift until you reach this mission. So if you may need to play a bit more of the story if you’re not quite there yet.

Once you’ve made it to this mission, simply play through it until you reach the Observatory Understructure Meditation Point. This is a long way into the mission, past Imperial Post 8L-055 and Summit Ridge. But you’ll know you’re in the right place if you’re in a floating building in the sky.

From the Observatory Understructure Meditation Point, climb the wall up to head outside. You should see the orange balloons you originally took in the Summit Ridge section. Travel across these until you reach the main platform, which has Stormtroopers fighting on it. Take them out and proceed to the main entrance located above it.

Once on this platform, take the door that’s off to the left of the main entrance. Continue down this hallway until you reach the last door on your right. The lift to activate the Rift Passage is located in this room. Simply step on the lift, take it down, and you’re all set. Now you can use the lift as a shortcut to the Observatory Understructure for future use.

It may not seem like much, and that’s because it isn’t. Unfortunately, you spend all this time trying to activate the Rift Passage Lift just to find out it has no other benefit than being a shortcut. However, there is a chest at the bottom you can unlock after you activate the Rift Passage Lift. At least that’s a bonus.

How to Solve Rift Passage Lift Chest Puzzle

The red chest is just to the left of the Rift Passage Lift entrance.

Once you activate the Rift Passage Lift, take it to the bottom and look for a red chest. In order to open it, you’ll need to have the Electro Dart for BD-1. You get this ability by completing the Climb Mountain to Observatory objective in Koboh. Once you have it, all you need to do is get BD-1 to shoot the electrical conduit above it with a dart. This will jam it, and you’ll be able to open the red chest, which contains some valuable loot, such as lightsaber parts.

So, we guess there is a benefit if you activate the Rift Passage Lift after all. It may not be as rewarding as most players had hoped, but there is at least still some benefit to activating it. However, Jedi: Survivor does seem to include random tidbits in the game just to keep us active, like cleaning the Fish Tank.
