Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is one of the most hyped games of this year, and the first boss fight is… an Evil Rubik’s Cube. While overwhelming at first sight, it’s pretty arduous. If you’ve played Tears of the Kingdom, then you’ve certainly crossed paths with Flux Construct I in Zelda. Flux Construct I is a repetitive mini-boss that you’ll encounter multiple times.
He’s a tough nut to beat. You’ll find this creature at places like the West Hebra Sky Archipelago, which is basically, a puzzle meets boss fight.
To defeat the Flux Construct I in Legend of Zelda Tears of The Kingdom:
- Make sure to stack up on resources first.
- Obtain the Ultrahand ability.
- Memorize the Flux Construct’s attack patterns, and dislodge the glowing core to attack it.
- You’ll be rewarded with the Flux Construct Core at the end of the mini-boss fight, which can be used to boost your weapon or shield damage by 10.
Where things get tricky is figuring out the puzzle part in question. You need to find the right puzzle element to attack the Flux Construct I in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. For this boss fight, you’ll need to prepare and go through some trouble, particularly if you’re early into the game.
The Pre Boss Fight Prep
While you don’t exactly need to prepare for the Flux Construct I boss fight in Tears of The Kingdom if you’re a seasoned veteran, here are a few recommendations:
Stack Up On Weapons
The Flux Construct I is pretty spongy in Zelda, and you’ll need the best weapons to get the job done. Considering all weapons in Tears of the Kingdom have a durability meter that runs out, you’ll need to have more than one weapon stored in your inventory. So make if your weapons are in ideal shape before heading into battle.
Cook Meals
If you’re early into the game, you know very well that Link doesn’t have enough health containers to take on the likes of the Flux Construct I. Paired with the fact that this mini-boss can deal some serious damage, you’ll need to have some health-replenishing items in store. The best route is to cook meals beforehand to ensure you have enough meals to replenish your health multiple times.
Obtain Ultrahand
The Ultrahand ability is quintessential for taking the Flux Construct I down in Zelda. While not exactly needed, taking down this mini-boss during multiple encounters will save you loads of time. The Ultrahand ability can be unlocked by completing the Ukoh Shrine.
Elixirs
Agility-boosting Elixirs are recommended here. Craft some Elixirs early on, as these will help you avoid any incoming attacks from the Flux Construct I. Knowing it’s pretty cold in Hebra, having a Cold Elixir can be pretty helpful.
How to Beat the Flux Construct I in Tears of the Kingdom
To beat the Flux Construct I, you need to keep your eyes peeled for the glowing cube found within the Flux Construct I’s core. It’s basically the Construct’s vitality source. You need to wait for the Flux Construct I to make the first move. The Construct in Tears of the Kingdom has different attack patterns that expose the cube from different angles. Find the right angle and prepare for a counter-attack before the Flux Construct I regains its footing.
Fist Slam
The Flux Construct will rapidly approach you and slam both of its palms to squash you. Once it dashes towards you, perform a quick dodge to the side. But don’t get too close as it raises its arms, as the shockwave will still hurt you.
The Flux Construct will get tired briefly and set its arms on the ground as it recovers its stamina. Then, quickly face the front of the Construct and perform Ultrahand to grab the Construct’s core. The core will be found near the Construct’s left knee.
Pulling out the core block will dismantle the Construct for a brief period. Then, follow up with a flurry of attacks while the block is still loose.
Cube Attack
The Flux Construct I will roll around the ground in its cube form to smother you. As you’re dodging left and right, make sure to lock on the Construct at all times. Finally, the Construct will halt in its cube form, revealing the glowing core in the middle row on just one side. Ultrahand will come in handy again. Pull the cube free, dismantle the Construct, and go ham on the Flux Construct.
Levitating Attack
The Flux Construct I will start levitating above the ground as a rectangle. It will follow you around in hopes of landing some damage. The Construct will go as far as to launch a row of projectile cubes at you. You can easily weave and dodge the incoming cubes.
What follows is a brief pause. The glowing core will be revealed on the underside of the levitating Construct. Let the Flux Construct shoot cubes at you, and as it recovers, use Ultrahand to dislodge the core. Then, attack the dismantled core cube.
Faster Fist Slam
Once the Flux Construct I’s health is down to nearly 40 percent of what it used to be. It will revert to using the first Fist Slam Attack. But this time, the Construct will perform its attacks faster and recover hastily. One thing to note here is that the placement of the core cube changes as the Flux Construct I recovers.
Once it performs the attack and begins to recover, the glowing cube appears on its right shoulder from the front or the left shoulder from behind. If you miss the recovery window, the Construct will perform a single fist slam variation to fool you.
Final Cube Attack
When the Flux Construct I’s health decreases to 20 percent in Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, it will perform one final cube attack. But this time, the glowing core cube is nowhere to be seen. That’s because the core cube is now hidden behind a cluster of other cubes. So keep your distance, evade any incoming attacks, and continue removing cubes till the core cube is revealed. Then, use Ultrahand to dislodge the cube for one final attack.
Congratulations, you’ve finally defeated Flux Construct I in Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. After you finish this mini-boss, it will drop a Flux Construct Core and Zonai Charges.
How to Use the Flux Construct Core in Tears of the Kingdom
You can pick up the Flux Construct Core either with the help of Ultrahand or Fuse. First, equip the best weapon or shield you’ve got equipped. This is the part where things get fun. You can use the Flux Construct Core in Zelda to increase your weapon damage by 10. Then, use Fuse to combine the core with your equipped weapon or shield. The core can only be used once, so use it wisely.
Conclusion
That’s pretty much all you need to know to defeat the Flux Construct I in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. It’s a repetitive and tricky mini-boss fight, and you’ll encounter more Flux Constructs as you progress in the game. Considering the Flux Construct Core boosts your weapon or shield’s base damage by 10, it’s ultimately worth it.
