Wallpaper Engine is a great application that you can find on Steam. It’s a cheap and great way to completely upgrade your desktop wallpaper. It gives you access to millions of great high-definition wallpaper options created by users worldwide.
Each wallpaper is categorized into different sections to help make your search easier and faster. Wallpaper Engine can bring your desktop alive by allowing you to use animated and interactive wallpapers.
Additionally, you can also create your own wallpaper animations and movements by using the Steam Workshop. Your options are unlimited when it comes to Wallpaper Engine. It is undoubtedly one of the best wallpapers tools you can buy.
Having a Transparent Taskbar in Wallpaper Engine

One thing that can be pretty annoying is having a different colored taskbar from your wallpaper. This makes the taskbar stand out and completely ruins the aesthetic of your wallpaper.
Unfortunately, Wallpaper Engine doesn’t touch your taskbar at all. It doesn’t have the power to change your taskbar or blend it in with your current wallpaper. Luckily, we can always use some third-party apps that work great with Wallpaper Engine to help make the taskbar transparent.
TranslucentTB
The app that we are talking about is TranslucentTB. It makes your desktop look cleaner by changing the color of your taskbar or making it completely transparent. This makes it blend in better with your chosen background from Wallpaper Engine.
The best thing about TranslucentTB is that it’s free, and it doesn’t affect Wallpaper Engine’s performance at all. There are two main ways to download TranslucentTB.
Download TranslucentTB using the Microsoft Store
- Click on your search bar and look for “Microsoft Store.”
- Click on the store’s search bar and go to “TranslucentTB.”
- From here, just click on the “Get” button and wait for it to finish downloading.
Download Translucent TB through Github
- Open up a web browser and go to TranslucentTB’s Github page.
- Download the TranslucentTB app installer file and open it.
- A pop-up tab for TranslucentTB should appear. Just click on “Install” and wait for the installation process to finish.
Setting up TranslucentTB
TranslucentTB is actually very easy and simple to set up. Once you’ve got the app installed and opened, it already works its magic. It automatically makes your taskbar transparent and allows you to have an aesthetically pleasing desktop background.
However, you can further customize it according to your preferences. The first thing you should do is make sure that there is a check on the “Open at boot” option. This allows TranslucentTB to automatically launch when you open your PC.
Next, you can also choose from a few different taskbar styles. These are normal, opaque, clear, acrylic, and blur. You can also choose these styles when you have a visible or maximized window or have your start, search, or task view opened. These options can help you customize your taskbar according to your current needs.
I always have mine to “clear” on desktop and on “blur” when I have windows or tabs opened. This makes it easier for me to work and use different applications. It makes my taskbar visible when I need it and transparent when I’m only showing off my desktop.
Make sure to experiment and try out the different options to see which one works for you.
And that’s how you can get a transparent taskbar while using Wallpaper Engine. Enjoy your new and improved aesthetic desktop!
