How to Slide in Fortnite Chapter 3

Fortnite Chapter 3 is upon us, and with it comes a new map, characters, and gameplay mechanics. With the new update, Epic has added a new sliding mechanic that allows players to fire their weapons while moving quickly on their knees. Even better, learning how to slide on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC is super simple and won’t take long to figure out.

To slide in Fortnite Chapter 3, simply hold the crouch button while moving. For those on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, press down on the right stick, and on PC press the left CTRL button by default.

It’s important to note that on PC you can rebind the keys in the settings, so if you’ve rebinded crouch to another key, that’s what you’ll need to press to slide.

Unlike other games with a sliding mechanic, Fortnite allows the player to fire while their sliding. Interestingly, this turns the mechanic from a solely defensive move to an offensive one as well. To help drive the point home, there’s a challenge that requires players to deal 50 damage to a player while sliding. Doing so will net you 25,000 XP, which will go a long way to unlocking new Battle Pass items.

In addition to dealing damage while sliding, you can also build. That might take a little bit of practice to get used to, but if you can get the hang of it you’ll be able to dodge bullets and build protection at the same time.

Learning how to slide in Fortnite might be a tad tricky at first, but it’s really pretty simple. It won’t be overly effective if you’re on flat land, but if you slide downhill, you can gain good speed which will help you dodge bullets and outrun the storm. At the very least, it’s something you’ll want to have in your back pocket.
