Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has introduced a giant variety of weapons, armor, and materials. Different Rarity of equipment requires different rarity materials in order for gear to be upgraded. It is not shown in the game exactly where to go and upgrade your gear.

How to Upgrade Weapons and Armor – Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
In order to begin upgrading your gear. You will want to open the map and the main menu. From there you will want to move over to the Cornelia icon, after that chose the option Smithy and Upgrade Special Effects.
After that, you will be given a list of all the available equipment that you can upgrade. The weapons and gear are classified by rarity.
Once you chose your weapon of choice. You are given equipment effects that you can choose and how to enchant your equipment. For example, a Broadsword of rarity 1 has the following 3 Effects:
- Spirit
- Slash Damage Dealt
- HP
Note that you can upgrade a certain effect only 4 times for a specific weapon.
Once you decide which part of the weapon you want to enchant, another window will open up, giving you information on what types of materials you need and how many for your weapon to be enchanted.
An important thing to know is that you need an exact rarity material for the exact rarity of equipment. So for example, if you have a 4-star rarity sword, you will need a 4-star rarity material.
There are two main ways to obtain upgrade materials.
The first way to acquire materials is by completing side missions throughout the game or redoing the side missions.
The second way to acquire materials is by dismantling your equipment.
When you have gathered enough materials for your equipment to be upgraded, simply continue with the process where a window will open up and give you the situation on how many bonuses your weapon will get.
Dismantling
The Dismantling section is right under the upgrade menu. In this section, you are able to remove the unwanted gear that you get and get upgrade materials in return.
Depending on what rarity you dismantle, that is the rarity and quality of the materials that you get. You are also able to select multiple items for dismantling and obtain materials faster.
